You forget that, once you fail to pay the factory producing your goods and lay off all your employees, it doesn't matter in the least how trustworthy you are. You aren't going to be in business. Period.

Jolla was in business while it had investors. When those investors left, Jolla had no other method to support itself. Therefore, Jolla failed. It's as simple as that.

Trust has been gained & squandered by many people and companies in the past. How they regain it, if they're allowed, has always been the story that's interested me.

This will be an uphill battle and only constantly met deliverables and more transparent communication... and by dropping the use of the word soon will Jolla regain this community's and the IGG backers trust.

People still want an alternative to iOS/Android for a mobile OS. But we don't want an alternative to clear and effective communication. That is what is missing.

Anyone wants to buy my perk?

$204+tax.

If you pay shipment I can also send you a few extra phones for free. No names. It will be a surprise.

If you are lucky you get a tablet, if not, you have wasted $200 in a **** show powered by Jolla. That must count for something.

At least here, saturdays are considered "working days" by law.
So there might still be time until the Deadline swooshes by.

(Well… I tried…)

It's more likely that investors agreed to fund Jolla but refused to fund continued manufacturing of Tablets as they don't expect them to sell enough to generate profit. So, basically Jolla continues at least for while, but will not launch or manufacture more devices.

Their problem seems to be that it takes so long until they have all the pieces needed to actually say something, so only thing they can do is to either say "soon" or just be silent. Another annoying thing is that there have been far too many unofficial "we have a solution fort his and that and we'll communicate it soon(tm)" but then comes another delay with remark "we still have some things to finish..." You either have a solution, or you don't but never ever give an impression that you have a solution if you cannot disclose it when promised! They need partners and partners need customers, it remains to be seen how the Intex device will sell. The burden is then on Intex also, so it might make it easier for Jolla. But if it doesn't sell....

Well, profit - what about the lost credibility and thousands of pissed of people ? I would expect investors would care quite strongly about stuff like this. At least if Jolla-the-company should have any long-term viability.

By the look of the last few posts, I think the thread title should be "The future of Jolla after the tablet"

Agree fully. But in those cases where you have options, but not yet decided which path you might go down; it's tricky to state just that.

I've been in that position where I had pending deliverables, some hurdles/obstacles and had to use the dreaded word "soon" in my communication. Later, it just became "There's problems but there's options." and list out the options.

In this case, the options do not favor the backers nor fans. Unfortunately we're not a society that weathers the unfortunate and painful truth well. I'd just rather take a bitter pill quickly as opposed to the drawn out torture.

Is Jolla even going to be much of a user-facing company any more?

They aren't going to be selling devices; their main 'rockstar' crowd pleaser guy left; TJC is a bit of a failed experiment; and their main customers are going to be OEMs.

So long as Jolla-OEM relations are good, then i'm not sure why the investors would care that much about the rest of us.
