Well, that doesn't explain the success of windows (where things usually work badly if at all, unless by "just works" you mean typing arcane incantations in the windows' registry editor).

but "incomplete"... the N900 will be incomplete even compared to an average S40-phone, and of course it lacks a whole lot of features I use regularly with my S60 phone.

I think some people need to break out of the phone paradigm and see this thing as being something else. Most of us here at tmo don't think of it as a phone, but as a smaller internet tablet with some phone stuff in it. At least I think we do, if not, I'm willing to be corrected.

However much you hate Microsoft and Windows, it's not realistic to portray them not 'working out ok out of the box'.
Whether they deteriorate much quicker than other OS, needs higher frequency of 'maintenances' or that they suck *** after a period of time does not detract from them 'working out ok out of the box'.

there's nothing wrong about telling people so. why shouldn't eldar make that clear in a review? it's better not to have people buy the N900 when they expect something "better than S60".
