Restarting QGVDIAL would not fix it [as the debug window would say something like "already known contact"].
But REFRESH would fix it.

@about page links: Fixed. Seems like a QT bug. I'll file a bug report soon. For the moment, changed the alignment to make it work correctly.
@lost icons: I found that this happened to me *every* time I rebooted the phone. I guessed it was because I used to store the pics on /tmp which is cleaned out at every reboot. So I've moved the store to inside the user profile directory. This problem should be fixed now.
New build will be fired soon.

I just rebooted with version 0.2.681..... still getting the error message.
After clicking "OK" to clear the error message;the statusline (at bottom of screen) says "Contacts retrieved, parsing".

New build. Added a ton of debugging info. Hopefully there will be some way to understand what happens to kbyork's qgvdial instance.

The new build is delayed. My scratchbox is hosed and I'm trying to find out how to fix it.
I might just delete the scratchbox virtual machine and use the Qt SDK...

I've actually toned down the log flood in the default settings. The log level is configurable from /home/user/.qgvdial/qgvdial.ini : set "LogLevel" to 5 and you'll get the maximum log dump.
I haven't got around to making it available in the UI yet - mostly because I'm struggling with the IDE and scratchbox.
