This is so frustrating and stupid. I ordered on 10/19 on buy.com, and never changed my order because I didnt want to lose my place in line and WAIT LONGER. If I had any idea that the retail stores would fricking get them first, I would have been on the wait list for that the FIRST DAY it was announced, and would have driven the 4 hours to get one

After my chat with Nokia (USA), I decided to call. This won't come as a surprise to most of you but he said that while they have the Nokia N900 in stock it is still considered a pre-order. He told me that they have started shipping pre-orders.

I asked whether I would get the N900 by Monday if I ordered today, and he told me that he thought I would, but they only have 800 units in stock, so if they run out during the pre-orders I will have to wait for the next batch.

This story is starting to become more clear. I think that very few N900's shipped in the first batch and that is why we are only hearing confirmations of shipping and delivery from a few people. But how dumb is it to send out a couple thousand units in the first batch when you know there are tens of thousands on pre-order. That will just make early adopters angry and frustrated that they didn't get their's before the retail stores.

Guy on twitter says his Sept. 15th Amazon order finally shipped out from Bartlett, TN (Memphis) to Virginia

Looks like Amazon is finally shipping a sprinkling of n900s. Doesn't seem to be any order because two people report pre-ordering mid September and another fellow November 5th.

Makes PERFECT sense. Some pre-orders are more "pre" than other pre-orders, except the places where they are in stock and they have lists and when they stop using lists so you can just go in and buy them for less than the pre-order on their official site and get it earlier.

Exactly.... They've told me the same thing and asked if I would like to place an order and give me a link to it. I bet there're thousands of complaint emails got sent to them. I think they're doing their part, it's the factory fault for not providing them with correct informations. Some one must have messed up the system that's why ppl who pre-ordered WAAYYYYYY before still didn't get them while someone pre-order a week or two ago already got theirs shipped.

well it seems like, in the US at least. A very small number were sent air express to the retail stores. The rest arrived very recently by container on the east coast, which is why the only units that seem to be shipping are coming out of TN? Hopefully this is the case, and within the rest of this week and beginning of next week, we will see them come into stock all over the US. I hope the alternate, that their first batch was PATHETICALLY too small, is not the case.

First batch sent via ship, ship takes longer to get here. Second batch sent for immidiate backup (small amount of units) via AIR to those ordered after. Thus, coming to conclusion that we're getting the FIRST batch "Made In Finland" while the others got theirs early "Made In CHINA" hahahaha..... jk jk ... it's getting too serious and the atmosphere very densed here. Calm down ppl and so do I lolz

The plot thickens...

Nokia (USA) rep just told me that their inventory of N900's "in stock" has dropped to 539 units. Based on what the last rep told me it looks like they have shipped almost 300 units in the last couple of hours.

Only a few tens of thousands more...! This is depressing.
