yeah ..too much overt and uncontested cheating from olympic doping ...the big boy countries... they can afford to dope... us Canadians.... w are too honest to dope...
welllll a few Canadian olympians have admitted to shooting up maple syrup.....
good stuff that grade "A" stuff....

Another interesting thing is that a good chunk the Finland's medals were won in the 1920s. Over 75% of the gold were won before the 1960s. Is this an indication of a decline of an athletic culture in Finland?

Yes, I suppose so
In reality I think there are at least 2 factors contributing to that;In reality it was just your average finnish lumberworking man who put down his axe and went to run at olympics, winning on pure strength gained from working hard day after day... something that the "civilized" countries of that time just did not have.
- 1.) In the early day there were just a handful of countries participating to the games, hence most of the talent in the world got no chance to partake.
- 2.) Also, and most important is tha fact that games in those days were pretty much amateur games in the spirit-of-olympics; there was no such thing as professional athletes, and "coaching" was a word not yet invented...
