Open xterm and type following
1.sudo gainroot
2.apt-get install purple-extra-protocols=2.6.3-6nix0
3.apt-get install libpurple0=2.6.3-6nix0
thats all..
After each apt-get command you have to confirm with "Y"

Hello to you guys,
it came to my attention that neither pidgin nor the integrated chat app can do offline messages.
For everyone who doesn't understand what im talking about:
when someone in my contact list from icq is sending a message to me when im not online and i then log in to my account on my n900 i don't recieve the message the person has sent to me.
Does anyone have/had the same problem and can help me?
I checked everything on my device and the internet including this forum and i didn't find anything.
cheers

Ok so just did an informal test today. Brightness at 2, no widgets except for the data usage one - set to only update when I change page, no wifi/no autoscan, no bt, no gps, only gsm with 2g connected.
I am using the latest version of haze from the repos and only stay connected to via 2G
At 3:40 PM fuly charged with 97% from xterminal
By 8:17 pm I had done the following about 8 minutes of IM (msn) chatting, 5 minutes of phone calls, 5 minutes sending sms, browsed the internet for 10 minutes or so. Xterminal shows 39% charge.
Is this normal, I know the battery life isn't the greatest but I find this super low, cannot get through a regular day like this, not even 5 hours and the level is already falling below 50% wow. Any advice as to what I can check, disabled pretty much all the widgets and only have 3 screens with a few bookmark thumbnails.
I do notice with haze (msn only) running and 2g connected the phone does feel warmer than when it isn't running, is this normal?

just thought i would reply to your concern. I haven't used icq but msn offline messaging on Pidgin works. Conversation IM only works when contact is online.

holy crap this is seriously low battery life for you. I wonder what it could be. I have no problems like that, you might wanna check processes running at startup and how much memory they are consuming.
My home wifi is constantly connected and also nokia messaging ~
Btw, with a heavy cell phone usage and i am talking about music on while browsing and chat for say 2-3 hours and normal phone use for me would be say 30-40 mins. Battery life gives me a little over 8 hours depending upon a full charge or not to begin with. Most of the times i don't fully charge it so it just gives me 7 hours or so, that still is on the lower end and needs to be improved.
But in your case, you must check your settings or where exactly the memory leakage is. Or maybe some internet connection that keeps draining the battery, maybe you entered some internet connection that it keeps trying to connect to
