  display:        block;
  padding-left: 8px;

I've had more time to look at the code today and i think you might be right with that part. Although i don't need to solve that problem anymore because i've moved the timestamp next to the name and put the message below (just like m165's screenshot above).

Just messing about now seeing how i could improve it (or mess it up)

Sure! I have attached it too this post. Haven't changed anything since though.

I have edited the HTML file and commented it to help me see where things are - just a habit from web designing! Maybe it might help others too.

Anyone stumbling across this post without seeing what it looks like, see this previous post:

Any problems / suggestions, let me know

Thank you!

I much prefer your look to the others, and even over the default one. I'm just going to make some avatar size changes, color and font changes and call it a day.

Is there a way to force it to re-poll the file for the settings instead of restarting? I've tried killing the rtcom process, along with the messagingserver, but no to avail.

Restarting the device you mean?

What I do is close conversations, open it, open a conversation, then close it, then when I do it again it has the changes.

Bit of a nuisance but it works!

@ b666m

what about the very bottom row

smiley - text input - send button

ideally would like the bottom row to be

smaller smiley button - longer text input area - send button - fullscreen button

where fullscreen button works like it does on terminal, it keeps the bottom row alive and get rid of the top bar

HI There,

How did you format the timestamp next to the name? Sorry, I have no programming background so will need the guidance

Thanks in advance!

I'm still making a few changes, but I'll upload it if anyone wants it before I'm finished.

I just need a way of removing the ":" after the persons name to match the main screen more, anyone know how to do this?

Edit: See this post to download it - http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=412

Just by modifying the HTML file, and moving the appropriate tags. You will probably get a better understanding by comparing the original to my version.

hey

sadly the actual code is closed source.

we are only able to edit the js, css and html file - but they have nothing to do with the actual hildon view/layout/window of the conversation app.

but i wrote an email some time ago to the rtcomm team and a devel from there answered it.
and best of all he mentioned that the conversation app will be skinable in the future!

don't know if that means that we can only create new layouts (like we are able to do now) and share them easier
OR
if we can even modify the whole look of the conversation window - including your mentioned mod for the bottom panel

HTML Code:
img blah blah
img blah blah blah

    blah blah blah img
    blah           img
