0.5.0 on my N800:

1) When I'm on the ASUI screen with an app open, and press Home key, I get the system Home menu overlaying the second screen and it remains in place as I switch between ASUI screens. The menu can't be cleared or activated until ASUI screen is closed.

2) Remain Lit When Charging is not working: the display continues to dim, then blank, after the timeout. The setting on the ASUI 2nd screen mirrors/changes the setting in the Display Control Panel. I've rebooted a couple of times, just in case, with this setting set each way at shutdown; no luck.

3) Once #2 is resolved, you probably want to update:

ASUI and the task navigator are responding to the home key??? If you were to switch to Telescope I wouldn't have to fix this and you would be happier.

So the ASUI toggle button changes the control panel setting but your device always blanks while charging? What happens if you change the setting from the control panel? What happens if you uninstall ASUI and change the setting in the control panel? By change I mean cycle it to never and back to when charging, don't just verify control panel has it set.

Any one else have this problem?

Ah, sorry. It's just a visual glitch, I don't care if it's fixed.

Yes, you understand me correctly. I tried this: kill ASUI, full cycle of the setting in the Control Panel, restart ASUI, and now it works as expected. Thanks for the hint.

Being able to leave the screen on when it's plugged in but blank on demand is a wonderful thing.

I've got one lock button, configured with short: Lock & Blank, long: Blank.

Since the ASUI Battery icon opens ASUI on a tap, I don't bother with the ASUI Power icon.

Very neat! Thanks a lot for this.

No, but this is probably the most requested feature so I'll try really hard to get it into the next release.
I think it will be better to show time and date like on charging screen instead of desktop.

I do.

Does using the toggle button in ASUI cause it to break again?

The power button applet is only there for anyone who uses something like advanced-power and don't want to see two battery applets but still want to launch ASUI from statusbar.

New test binaries.
  • updated asui script to download from asui.garage.maemo.org
  • secondary key setting used along with power button to unlock screen
  • fix: headphone connection change will relock the screen if it was locked
  • headphone connection change is treated like a power button press and screen can be unlocked with secondary key

I forgot to update the asui script before releasing 0.5.0 so it still points to the old website which no longer exists. If you want to try this test you will need to either manually download the new script and overwrite /usr/bin/asui (no .sh extension) or edit /usr/bin/asui and replace all instances of "qzx.com/asui" with "asui.garage.maemo.org". Or wait and I'll release 0.5.1 in a couple days if no bugs are found with this feature.

Once you've upgraded the script you can run asui ds and asui dt to grab the new test binaries and then run or install the test, open settings from secondary page and set the last setting on the button modes page.

Setting it to none will work as it does now, otherwise the secondary key is required to unlock after pressing power button. If you press power button while the screen is still on and the device is still locked it will turn the screen back off. This works when ASUI is mapped or not so you can quickly press power button to see screen and press it again to turn off. If you have an n810 you can use the hardware lock button when ASUI isn't mapped and after the screen dims press power button to immediately blank it.

So you want to see the time when waking the device?

I can have it briefly display time and date in a small window in the middle of the screen after the display is turned on and the duration can be adjusted with a setting. I like this idea, is it what you're talking about?

FYI, I did see the same thing when installing from extras on a second device that did not already have ASUI from your own repo. Thanks for the fix !

Well I mean if you want just check the time - just press any button and Time, date and maybe charge level will appear. Something similar to this: http://asui.garage.maemo.org/_screen...-landscape.png
