for this you would need to have some "brain" in the programming language... something that recognizes changes...
( something like: if new_msg_name is old_msg_name: do nothing; else: make gap; )

because of that you can't use html or css for grouping the conversation this way...

you could maybe hack around in the js-file... but i think this wouldn't be an easy way at all... ^^

After quite a few days, finally i was able to achieve it two days ago, then a bit more on testing and i hope i have taken the wrinkles out. Try the files, test them and i would absolutely love the feedback positive and negative both.

HTML Code:
img blah blah
img blah blah blah

    blah blah blah img
    blah img

img blah blah
how to instructions: don't forget to backup original files first then
  • copy the zipped-files in /usr/share/rtcom-messaging-ui/html folder
  • if you want self-image, put a 64x64 px file named avatar.png in the same folder

thanks! Pretty please with sugar on top ~

I only have limited CSS experience but isn't there a way to make the speech bubbles look better by making it lighter around the edges (some kind of gradient) so that it looks like it is curved at the edges?

How can I change the text color? I want to use brighter colors for the bubbles but then I need dark text.

Thanks, it's been a while since I last worked with CSS. I have changed the text color to black now and it looks quite good. Can you please tell me how to change the text color for both the recipient and the date and time of the messages?

I have tried searching this thread for an answer but there are too many pages and I don't know where to look.

I want to achieve three things and I need help please:

1. I want the text bubbles to expand dynamically according to the amount of text inside.

2. I only want the text of the conversations to be inside the bubbles. The name and date/time should be outside the bubble.

3. How do I change the color of the name of sender and the date/time?

Thanks!

I'm still making a few changes, but I'll upload it if anyone wants it before I'm finished.

I just need a way of removing the ":" after the persons name to match the main screen more, anyone know how to do this?
