Just like all the other OtherHalves! If all works out, it will be plug and play!

When an OtherHalf is connected, a pin pressed into the phone. (next to the battery)

This triggers the phone to check if there is a NFC chip, or EEPROM connected. On that chip is an ID number, which is linked to a RPM-package in the store.

So, the keyboard will either have an EEPROM or a NFC chip -at the moment I am investigating the NFC chip, I think this is the easiest and most elegant solution.

NFC chips are pretty cheap and I remember there was an app to write to them on the N9. Fairly simple but there is a possibility you would have to write and test every chip individually.
Quick ebay search wielded this. Available in bulk

NFC tags are already in control. dirkvl has some samples of them.
intention is to use only the UID of them, so no programming needed.

would you guys mind it if I put the 'brand' on the keyboard? will be on the bottom part behind the hinge, so only visible when you slide out and tilt

First tests with re-flow oven

Tactic: just put it in, max power, when it flows (208C on thermometer) wait 5sec, then shutdown and open door

The parts do not fit at all on this pcb, it is just a useless one i had laying around
