Would LOVE a Jolla flashable ROM - I mean, it would have to exist wouldn't it?
Wait, there is also a 64GB version? I was under the impression that all Taobao tablets were 32GB only. That might be a game changer, since it might determine which version will be sent out with SailfishOS next month (I thought it would be a part of the same batch that is on Taobao right not).

I would wait how successful the guy on Twitter is with his piece and if it is flashable, I'd go for it. Until then, I'd stick to Stskeeps's advice

I very much disagree. I have used Android quite extensively on both tablet and phone (more on the tablet, actually) and while it's not great on the phone, I can still understand the appeal there. On the tablet, it's a whole other story - it's the worst tablet OS I've ever seen. Maybe it is acceptable for people who have never used any other tablet OS, but for anyone who has tried an iPad or webOS 3.0 (and I'm sure SailfishOS, BB Playbook and Windows would be similar in that sense from what I've seen), Android was - and still is unless they changed something radically over the last year - pretty much unusable as a tablet OS.

Trust me, I gave it a shot every few days, but it was too frustrating to use.

Basically no way to flash Sailfish on other devices and no way to flash other OSes on Jolla devices.
Not much for "openess"
The Jolla tablet as delivered does not have a locked bootloader. That's been stated a few times in the past.

I think however these people (the sellers on Taobao) are flashing Android onto these devices is the culprit, nothing to do with Jolla. Once this bootloader issue is overcome, I'm quite sure folks will put Sailfish on it.

There is more than one definition of "better". For someone who absolutely has to use a feature or an app only available on a particular OS, that OS may be "better" than any other.

But I assumed mscion's comment was facetious.

Sailfish makes me feel like that quite often. Much as I like it and prefer its UI to others, I rather use my daughter's Android tablet when it really matters, such as for typing this response (absolutely impossible in a Sailfish browser due to the ridiculous lack of copy&paste). Sailfish is nice but still very much experimental.

How difficult would it be to buy a Nokia N1 outside of China? Were they not similar in spec too?

Also, they are very pretty.

Intel Atom Z3580 (N1) vs. Intel Atom Z3735F (JT) - both have 2gb of RAM but the N1 does have a PowerVR GPU. Not sure what the JT has to be honest for a GPU.

It's arguable they're quite similar after all. Hmm...

And the bootloader is unlockable in dev mode too.

New development for us to discuss!
There is @psjuma on twitter asking about install attempt SFOS on taobao tablet and has statet:
"Taobao claimed that you could get Sailfish OS installed at 30$ extra payment - they would ship the tablet to Finland for that before delivering it to you".
What?
Now its 50/50. Either the Taobao sellers or Jolla are talking BS.

Android 4 though? That's apparently what's on these ex-Jolla tablets.
