hi all,

after playing around with a device which kept rebooting (bootreason wd32_to) every 10-15 mins and after trying various workarounds like disbling some of the power management features I gave up and returned the unit for replacement.

Got a new one, restored the backup etc... no reboots for 4 days. So, my conclusion and suggestion to all of you who suffer from very frequent reboots is to get your device replaced as at least in my case I had clerly faulty HW.

I'm experiencing also several reboots.
I disabled the screen vibration and seems to be more stable than before yet still rebooting sometimes.
It does not matter that I have one or many applications in use. It does not matter that the battery is full or almost empty. It does not matter that I play Mahjong or browse the net. It reboots at it's on will.
I just hope Nokia will release soon a new software killing all this "childhood" bugs and leaves us with a pristine terminal.
Any light on this will be greatly appreciated.
Happy New Year!

PS: Back in the day I said to myself that I was NEVER gonna buy any tech item in the first months of its release date. We all end up being the testers rather than the ones enjoying the product. Oooops! I did it again and I regret... Damn!

Still reading through pages of posts....

I have been getting about 1 random reboot a day. Sometimes 2 a day. Seems like they happen when I a, doing just about anything. I had it reboot today when I woke up and slide the sleep slider to see what time it was. Love the phone almost enough to tolerate it but it sure is a bummer when your telling your buddy how sweet your new phone is and it reboots in front of him.

Mine is a preorder from Newegg and it has consistently rebooted itself 1-2 times a day since I got it.

my first n900 had a non-functional internal microphone. had it for several weeks, it never spontaneously rebooted once. just got my replacement. the microphone works, but I've had 5 spontaneous reboots in the first 24 hours. seriously considering giving up on this device.

As the only thing common the the devices was my SIM-card, I cleaned it with isopropyl alcohol. It might have reduced the reboots, but hard to tell.
thanks for the info! I decided to wait for a FW update instead of sending it back for replacement. Hope it's worth it

I also had quite some reboots but all "sw_rst" as bootreason.

I knew in advance that the software was not really finished, could be buggy and could cause crashes ...

BUT

This device still runs linux, and one of the advantages of linux always was imo that you hardly have to reboot it, maybe just in case of a kernel update. So I think it's a big flaw the device reboots when there is a software issue. Can't it just try to kill the process causing the crash or fail gracefully without reboot?

Any explain on why some devices do not reboot? The first unit i received did encounter such problem. However, the replacement unit i received do not encounter such problem at all, it is just perfect. Those who were lucky enough got their first unit in perfect condition. Why is that so? isn't all n900 running the same firmware?

Mine just rebooted when I tried to connect to a public wifi spot and required a battery pull. Prior to this, it has never rebooted (2 weeks) as I rarely use wifi
