take a look at the css code of my latest creation.

edit the html-file and move the name and the timestamp blocks outside of the bubble block

3. How do I change the color of the name of sender and the date/time?
just add a line "color: #A1B2C3;" inside the responsible css-block

the blocks are called something with "Name" and "TextRight" i think *to lazy to look it up* XD

thanks,
you need a modded js-file too.

just take the js-file out of any of my layouts.

most other layouts here use my js-file too. (only this one doesn't xD)

then move the file and a picture with 64*64 or 60*60 pixels (have a look at the css file and which size it uses for avatars... but it doesn't really matter in the end ^^) to the html-folder... ehm yes... it must be called "avatar.png" (:

it renders pretty smooth.... and i think the reasons are:

- he doesn't use opacity/transparency
- he doesn't use shadows for text and bubbles
- he doesn't too much modification of bubbles, avatars and content

so... if you remove transparancy and shadows from my version it would scroll much smoother too... but wouldn't look as cool as it does now *laugh* XD

btw: your layout looks nice and clean pretty cool @ niqbal

I have made a few changes to niqbal's files (thank you niqbal) and have attached the files here:

The changes were all done in the HTML and CSS files because I have no Javascript experience:

1. Made the bubbles re-size according to the text inside
2. Changed the text bubble colors to a slight aqua blue and grey.
3. Made some changes to the alignment and spacing of various components

My experience in CSS is very limited so I expect bugs. Please report back.

I also barely know CSS.

I was also looking for a way to improve the appearance of the speech bubbles. It seems that there is a way to add a gradient when using webkit but I have not found anything without it.

niqbal have you got any idea why the text in the speech bubble on the left is appearing higher up in the bubble instead of being in the middle?

When there is a one line message it is most notable that it appears too high up in the bubble.
