Thanks to another user, I now can reproduce this
behavrior.
Can you please test this:
change "visible events" to "1 Year" and all your
birthdays should have the right date.
change "visible events" to "6 month" and some
birthdays are on wrong date (most probable those
contacts who were born before 1970)

It's got set wrong in database. It doesn't need time after all. Because a birthday is a whole day. There should be a check in this. I guess birthdays are also selected on time which causes the bug. Don't know how it's been stored, but you can simple run a query with i.e. DAYOFMONTH().

Bug is maybe caused by UNIX time which doesn't go back earlier than 1970.

for importing contacts and/or importing contacts
birthdays only)......
Edit: And what cal-home-widget version do you use?
1.1 or 1.0
- timezone is GMT +2
- I use automatic time settings (allways, since I have the device, Dec 2009)
- most contacts were imported from Nokia N95 using the N900's Sync-Tool and Bluetooth. Only Contacts were synced, there are no Birthday-Entries in Contacts on N95. All Birthdays were added manually to contacts on N900
- Calendar Home Widget 1.1

Now that I changed visible events to "one year" Birthdays are shown correct (return to 6 months fu**s them up again).

For your interest: only "Gerhard" on my screenshot above is born before 1970

Thanks for the advice, since it seems to work with the new settings it's not a dealbreaker for me.
But it would be nice to be fixed anyway because it reminds me on the iCrap's yearly Timezone-Waterloo

CU - M_99

PS @ systemcrash: I know about this change of timezone, but this has never been a problem the last year when using calendar-home-widget

Some time ago I mentioned about my problem with alarms for calendar events in N900.
Now my company forced MS Office change to version 2007 and I use Outlook 2007.
Problem reappeared again - there is no possibility to have alarms visible for events in my N900. I tried to create test event in Outlook with different alarm settings - no success.

example:
I create in Outlook test event with alarm 15 mins before -> sync with N900 -> new event appears in N900 but without alarm.
I change alarm setting for the event to 0 mins before -> sync -> no alarm visible in N900.
funny thing is that I can see the change when I check last sync report - there is bolded line showing what has been changed.

no problem when creating event with alarm in N900

i think there is no need to do this, once CSSU make portrait desktop work properly, there will be no need to rotate widgets

Instead, I think that it is very useful function, simple and handy for non-power-users/developers, like me.

I use Calendar Home Widget and have a problem that may or may not be related to it. I imported my calendar info from an E72 using Ovi Suite. When I look at calendar events in the month and week view I can see a little bar indicating events, but when I open that day it says no events or to-dos. The events are displayed correctly in the 'Agenda' view. This only happens with events that are birthdays. The birthdays have been copied to the default 'n900' calendar not the special 'Birthdays' calendar (I entered them directly in the calendar on the E72, not through the address book).

I tried to edit some of the birthday entries to move them to the 'Birthdays' calendar but when I open and try to edit them I don't get the 'Birthdays' calendar as an option. Weird. I'm on PR 1.3 - any suggestions gratefully appreciated.

if you edit your contacts to include birthday, it will appear in your calendar automatically under the 'birthdays (smart)' calendar.

new version 1.2
- use localized name for "private calendar"
- hopefully solved the bug
with birthdays on wrong day.

Work in Progress!
Now the recurrent non-daily events have wrong start time :-(
