Using the HP Pro Tablet 608 G1, it runs windows but could probably run some sort of linux. It has a active digatizer and there is an optional keyboard addon.

I suspect that drivers from UEFI up will be your issue; especially the digitizer under Linux. Smaller device will be nice on hand but a real pita typing without physical keyboard. Swype can be a partial solution but……

I have used a much smaller screen in the past without making as many typos.
I agree a screen size is a factor but does not seem like the main one.
