Hey. Any reason that you can think of why I keep slowly losing all of the images for both the movie files as well as your icons?

I still have over 50+ megs of internal flash available so I don't get it.

A reboot corrects for this which I've had to do now like 3 or 4 times about every 4 days or so.

There's no loss in functioning with knots, it just that it's not quite as pretty without having those graphics.

P.S. I passed!
I'll write or try to find you later tonight.

Okay. I figured this out on my own.

If there's no space in the /tmp on your tablet, knots 2 fails to save/load the screen shots and defaults to that leprous orange, default folder icon.

You can check the space available in that folder with this command:
ls -lah /tmp

For me, it turned out that the OMWeather applet was taking a big dump in that temp folder so this is what I typed in Xterm to get back the normal icons for knots.
echo -n "" > /tmp/omw.log

All thanks should be directed towards me on this. *lol*

Hello - does anyone know a way to change the key mappings in the knots client?

I'd like to change the mapping of the left-right keys to skip back and forward rather than volume.

Unless these are mapped already and I cannot find them - using the slider it is impossible to be accurate and "go back a few seconds".

When I close the server using ctrl+c and then try to run the program again, I can't access http://localhost:1978/ any more. So end up having to reset the settings in order to access it again. I'm trying to set up and use SSL.

Any suggestions?

If you enabled ssl, you need to use https://localhost:1978

Hello ukki,
great piece of software! It's exactly what i've been looking for for a long time. I used orb in the past, but never really felt happy about it because of the web-only client interface.

No problems installing the server under windows 7 pro 64 and the N900 client including SSL support by following the instructions in the wiki. And i'm a linux newbie :-)

Almost everything works fine. But the remote discovery on the n900 fails. I created an account in the server settings and passed the accessibility test successfully (forwarded the ports 1978, 19780 and 19781 on my router), but when i try to use the remote discovery on the N900 i get the message "authentication failed" after entering username and password. Is there something more i have to to?
Secondly i can't browse some directories by path. But only on the N900 client, with the server web interface there are no problems. I think it has something to do with german umlauts (ä, ü, ö or other special characters) in the filenames. When there are files with umlauts in a directory i get the message "no results". After deleting all files with umlauts in their names, browsing by path works without problems and the client shows the remaining files in the directory.

And i have three feature requests :-) It is possible to support m3u playlists, add buttons for next/previous song when playing an album and add an option to save username/password in the client when using SSL?

Thank you very much!

No, it should authenticate if you used the same username and password you used to create the account. I just tested and it worked fine, maybe the server was down when you tried.

Ruby has filesystem charset issues in Windows and these are hopefully fixed in the upcoming 1.9.2.

With m3u support you mean you want your playlists scanned and added automatically to playlists? I've been meaning to do this.

Previous and next buttons are available with video playlists, with music you have to switch song by clicking on the song name. There isn't much room for buttons but I guess I could add keyboard shortcuts.

You can store your username and password to device to avoid always authenticating, but you need to do it from the terminal:

Code:
gconftool-2 -s /apps/knots/username yourusername -t string
gconftool-2 -s /apps/knots/password yourpassword -t string

I'll try to add aupport for this, maybe with shift - arrow key.

I see - so even though it uses mplayer to display the vid, the keyboard interface is knots passed through to mplayer, rather than mplayer native keys.

Personally, shift-arrow-key wouldn't be much use to me (though better than no skip back at all , as it denies single hand use, and I also don't volume controls on the keyboard because I have hardware volume controls on the n900 and external volume controls everywhere else.

However, that is just me, and everyone else would be different. Perhaps an alternative approach would be to externalise the keymappings into a ~/.knotsrc file? More work of course, but solves keymappings for everyone rather than just me.
