Support for offline playlists would be terrific!
I always try to optimize QSpot in each release (next release should contain some minor optimizations to cpu usage in sleep mode). The memory usage of QSpot is due to the buffering mechanism used (e.g., buffered data is stored in RAM and is depending on e.g., the used buffer length, which defaults to 30secs).Yaspot does not employ such buffering mechanism at all, and therefore also consumes less memory overall. Offline playlists support is not (unfortunately) planned for QSpot, as this functionality can only be provided by the official Spotify clients.

A new QSpot version (0.8.0-1) is now finally available from extras-devel and the garage page (and soon hopefully from extras-testing as well). I decided to quite dramatically increment the version number this time as I think that most of the core functionality should now be in place.. Also, the underlying openspotify library has received significant reliability improvements. Extracts from the changelog follows below:

* Added portrait mode support (display orientation selectable via the Settings dialog).
* Added possibility to change the playlist loading timeout value (via Settings dialog).
* Pausing delay minimised.
* Misc. bug fixes.

Damn, my spotify premium ended yesterday. Need to update and try the new version.

Always nice with a new update.

What is pausing delay fix?

Well, it crashes shortly after searching (3G). No playback when you select a song and crash again.

Will try later with Wifi

Didi you update via extras-devel or download from garage? In case you download the deb file from the garage project page you need to make sure to download the updated libopenspotify library package as well.

Pause delay means that the time between pressing pause button and the music playback actually stopping.

The new update works well on 3G and wifi on my phone. Also portrait mode is nice. I really would like see a seeking feature while playing tracks to go to a different part of a song fast

Thanks for the feedback, I am happy to hear that the update works well.. A seek feature is indeed planned, and hopefully it can be included in the next (major) QSpot update.
