I'm quite glad I don't have to deal with all this PAC nonsense as well. Thankfully, the T-Mobile people get to port after the number has been connected, so at least that won't hold me up.
Shipping immediately though... I wouldn't get your hopes up!
Yeah the weather has been awful - you'd think that someone would be in touch with the couriers though!!

Don't Nokia import with DHL who have an online tracking system? They shipped all the sim-free orders to the UK with DHL and then all the customers got a tracking number and could see where they're orders were on-line.
You'd think that if individual customers can do that then a big company that runs Nokia Retail in the Uk could find out to the exact minute when the stock was coming in.
I don't want to keep slating them but unless your a new customer or threaten to cancel your order they treat you like a mushroom.

I think it was UPS that sent out all the pre-orders (I may be wrong!) but yes, exactly! There's no way that thousands of pounds of goods would be shipped without FULL tracking info. They're not that stupid!! (I hope!). So yeah, someone needs to ring up, speak to someone senior, then find out what the tracking update is!

Yeah it was UPS, just checked the thread.
They don't let you speak to line managers, tried it.
They still haven't updated the web site either still showing end of Nov delivery.
Has anyone used MPD before? First and last time of pre-ordering a phone, usually wait for the phone to have the bugs sorted out before i get one.

Hello all, I just got an email message from MPD stating that they will need my PAC if I want to transer my current number to my new contract, which they said would delay my order. Alternatively, they said, they can connect my new phone with a brand new Vodafone number and dispatch the handset "immediately".
I'm just confused because I only just placed my oreder a few days ago, does this mean they will be dispatching it today? Or does it just mean that they will dispatch is as soon as they can?

Amen to that!
Could always trick them - say you're ringing to complain about a member of staff and need a manager. Then, when you get through, pop your N900 related question!
If it all works the way I think it will, I'll get the handset with no SIM card and I'll just need to put my existing SIM card in to activate the new contract. No PAC required, as I'm staying with Vodafone and keeping the same number.
If it turns up with a SIM card, they've clearly not done what I asked them to and I'll need to talk to them before deciding what to do. I don't really want to subject myself to another Symbian based device, but if Nokia and/or their resellers can't sort out the N900 rollout, I'll probably get myself a SIM-free Samsung i8910 from Expansys instead, then see how things go over the next 6 months with Maemo.
