The navicore or way-whatever-finder(?) site doesn't show a price... but I would guess $150.00 (US) for 3 years... it appears it will be "subscription" based instead of something you purchase. (NOTE: My guess is based on the UK site which shows 68 British pounds for a 3 year subscription.)

They also claim that if you own the Navkit 2007 for OS2007 that the license number will get you the same functionality. (But the question then would be: For how long?)

EDIT: I would HOPE that regardless of how you obtain the license that it would allow the software itself to never expire... but you wouldn't get updates unless you renew the subscription.

I dunno - I think its all conspiracy (the leak). Nokia probably likes the idea so they can fix whatever bugs there is before releasing the final version. I would rather wait, Im not a linux guru like everybody else here. NOKIA - your killing me, I cant wait til December. Im just frustrated with my N800 wish its faster. BUT I love you guys, your all amazing.

How are people downloading the maps? Every time I try to refresh the map list the n800 says that it failed to update the map list. I'm know that I'm online, because the internet and email work, but the map download doesn't. Am I missing something?

I confirmed that this install of 2008 works on a VMWare Linux session on top of Windows. The Windows update utility also has to be installed for the driver, and then the flasher on the guest Linux OS finds the n800 fine. I now have OS2008 on my n800 without a real linux machine.

I know you can just use a live CD, but I'm at work on a Windows box without a CD burner and couldn't wait.

Anyway everytime I go to http://downloads.maemo.org, mine does not crash at all.
What I ment to say was that os2007 was not ready at launch. Many bugs were fixed later.
