I am not sure if I am missing something here.

I downloaded and used it for a while before I tried the SIP solution with GoogleVoice.
http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=80505

The SIP solution allows me to receive calls and dial out using my GoogleVoice over wireless or data service.
It's quality over wireless is very good and over data service, it is not that bad.
It shows your GoogleVoice number as caller id.
It integrates with your contact so you can call any number from your contact using cell or sip any time.
It is easy to change status to online/offline
The simonics gateway seems to be very reliable.
It is totally integrated with N9 interface and available always without having to run another app.

So what am I missing? What does this program gives me that the SIP solution does not?

Does the SIP method do the following:
1. Integrate with the users Google contacts?
2. Allow the user to call back or call forward from any of the phones configured in the Google Voice account? - Including any SIP phones or Skype phones?
3. Does it do text messaging?
4. Does it have any push updates? qgvdial has the capability to use a mosquitto based push server that can automatically update the inbox and contacts list.
5. Is it open source?

My N9 contacts are synced with Google contacts. So yes, it works.

I am not sure what you mean here. It is still the same GoogleVoice account so all features of GoogleVoice, you mentioned works, I believe.

I have the $45 unlimited Voice/Text/2GB data with T-Mobile. So I really don't care about the GoogleVoice feature too much. I have setup my phone to forward calls to GoogleVoice number when my phone is unreachable. This allows the people to call me on my cell number and in case I am in my basement, where cell service is not available most of the time, I can receive the call using my wifi at home on my GoogleVoice. And that works.

Does this program gives better voice quality on data service?

3. Does it do text messaging?
No. SIP does not offer that, I think.

4. Does it have any push updates? qgvdial has the capability to use a mosquitto based push server that can automatically update the inbox and contacts list.
Since I use GMail and its contacts synced using N9 accounts, it seems to work.

5. Is it open source?
GoogleVoice is not open source. There are many GoogleVoice gateway providers out there. I am pretty sure that the code is not a secret, though I am not an expert at this.

When I tested qgvdial, I did not like the callback feature and interface. It looked unfinished. It was a month ago, so I guess I should try again before complaining. I will give it another try.

I think when I tried to use qgvdial, it did not see or let me dial numbers of contacts from N9. This is a very important feature for me because I don't want to manage 2 contact lists.

I am very thankful for the developers to work on projects like this. So please don't take it the wrong way.

@abyzthomas: Thanks for the kind words and sorry if you felt I was being rude. I should stop myself from posting on tmo when I'm sleepy.

Also:
New build. I got really frustrated at all the steps I've had to make users do just to get logs. The logs now can be sent to me with a single click from the settings view.

Expand the Logs in the settings view and click on the "Send logs" button.
It will push the logs to my server and prompt you to send me an email about the logs.

Tell me what you think.

I responded just now to an email which was probably from you.

Not at all uvatbc. I was more worried if I offended you. If I did, I apologize as well.

Thanks for your response and your valuable service to this community.

I sent you an email reply.

The problem must be somewhere else then. Your app dials successfully but when it reaches the GV entry number it says that it could not complete my call. The GV gateway number it dials is 504-252-01XX. That's when I get the message.

Is this related possibly to any proxy server?

You're able to hear the female voice saying "Could not complete your call. Please try again later" ?
This means that qgvdial actually did manage to complete the call - which is what I guessed from the logs.
However the GV servers decided for whatever reason they cannot connect you to the other person.

Whenever I have heard that female voice message from the GV access number it has been because the number I dialled out with was not recognised by GV as being associated with my account. This can happen because:
1. I didn't have outgoing caller ID enabled (for me it was because I used Skype without setting up the caller id)
2. As part of research I tried calling that access number much later (about 10-15 minutes) than when I got it from the GV server. In effect my time window for using that access number expired. From the timestamps in your log, I don't think thats what has happened.
3. I had not set up the phone as one of my numbers in Google Voice. This is a variation of #1 above.

So: The phone number of your N9: Have you added it as a phone in your Google Voice settings? Have you disabled caller ID for any reason?

Fixed. Clean install and re-configured Caller ID settings. It works fine now. Calls made out show as coming from my GV number.

Thanks for your help.
