Personally, I prefer video playback to be a separate app to music playback.

I agree. That said, there are come cool things we could do with video, like create a "pandora" for youtube, or even just enable music videos for songs you have (again, pulling from youtube, or some other source). That could be a nicety and it wouldn't get in the way of people who don't care.

It can't not take time from polishing, right? So, like, at the very end of the list, maybe?

IMO, there are enough players out there and wrappers for them. Native has the media player, then there's mplayer with kmplayer and SiB, there's VLC on its way, plus a few players and wrappers in beta, plus some media centers.

Yours would probably look best, but it's not like there's a shortage, plus, personally I'd rather have a polished, finished app than a multifunction media center. I have like 4 of those. 3 of them are YouTube enabled. Plus another like 4 or so youtube interfaces. And then there's the 4 browsers that do youtube, like MicroB, Fennec, Opera (I think), IceWeasel (at some point, maybe).

I know I'm one of many, but, since I get a vote, I vote for focusing on audio. I doubt such a software will ever be "done". No player ever is. Popular players for PC update like once a week for the last 5-10 years. There's always something.

+1

I'd much rather just have a solid, innovative music player (with crossfade) that I can use in portrait mode.

Agreed, I would prefer that audio was focused on first and was fairly polished (with gapless playback and other features present) before the footprint starts expanding to include other media. ndi summarized my feelings nicely as well.

IMHO, the simplicity of the app dovetails nicely with the idea of doing a specific thing very well or "the best" (audio) rather than trying to be too many things (handle other media) in a less than optimal fashion (lack of features). Once audio and performance was nailed down though, it would be cool to see the other areas evolve naturally - just not at the expense of the core functionality (or at least what the "audio-first" group feel the core functionality should be).

Again, I really appreciate your participation in the thread, Peter. Keep up the good work.

We're still working out the kinks with a much simpler, prerequisite procedure: talking to girls.

I beg to differ. I do not want to open another app just for the video. You know how long it take to open an app every single time?...Unless you like to open stuffs but i don't.....The default media player can play music & videos...so i don't see why it shouldn't be integrated.

Yes, and maybe Peter should also intergrate angry birds, x term and a "destroy the phone"-button? ~.~

Thats it! ONE app for everything!

No seriously, I think its fine without an vid player, there are enough in the repositories and I don't think it would damage you to spend two secs to open an app to view a video.

greets from germany....

PS: Peter my offer to help to translate into german still holds

Use your mind and think logically before you write, Angry Bird and X-terminal is not playable under media player anyway lol. Look, I only say this if it wasn't for the default media player on the PHONE or ON THE PC. It has always been one single app integration. A media player is supposed to play more than just music. Well, unless you want to call Instintiv a music player and nothing else. It's just my suggestion for integration..i am not putting a gun to anybody's head but you sure sound like that's what i did. Or sound like it's impossible to integrate.

I think anyhow it's a little more complicated than a simple music player
IMO default player is good for vidz but so poor for music
keep going on with this appz !!!
