Please no, doing so will only imply more delays!

Anyway, the hardware is apparently final, so it will no be possible to add a compass and flash 10 can always be added via software update. In fact I would not care to have pre-release firmware in my device if I can have it before.

Peter,

you know, of course I am glad you are here and telling it 'face to face'. But this is personal and it is related to you. Thank you for being open.

On the other side I am getting really bored by this and I am starting to heavily doubt Nokia (and I am not talking about the N900 now!).
I was always thinking highly of OPK, but listening to his keynotes and closely following Nokia I get a feeling of him and Anssi becoming more and more out of touch with reality.

Nokias direction is great, the transition to a services company is the right thing IMHO and it is great. But it is going WAY TOO SLOW. It is taking year after year with really minimal visible movement. Of course a lot has happened and from a professional point of view I know, that it takes years, but still - it is happening too slow.

Delaying the hottest (and first non shameful) N-Series since the N95 three times in a row is only a symptom of what seems to be happening at Nokia. There are so many great and talented people there, I believe more than anywhere else, and the culture is great. Still the sum here seems to be less than its parts. I wonder why.

Thanks and best regards,
Corwin

This is a thing i like about apple. In most cases, when they set a date, you will get it that date. And they don't announce products several months before release. We can guess there will be a new product at some keynotes, but thats about it.

I can't remeber a Nokia/Sony Ericsson product i wanted that had been released at the set date.

Because of that, i don't give a sh** about SE's Rachael (something i would want if it was available today), because i'm tired of waiting and i know they will use the same routing, not releasing at the set date (i know they haven't even announced it but i know their routines).

To be honest, i guessed the same with N900 but there isn't another phone coming soon i want.

So if the HTC Dragon comes out before, i'll probably get that one.

Thank you for this information

Altough I find it a little bit funny, that the Nokia Support don't know anything about this device.

I sended an email to the German Support, because a week before they told me, that the device will reached the market this week.

The new reply told me, that they don't really know when the N900 will be released. I have to ask Amazon or my retail store, because they know when the N900 will be released.

Little funny that Nokia don't known when Nokia release a product

same here .... my phone is about to die and I need a new one asap. I might buy HTC HD2 if it comes before N900 otherwise I might look some other alternatives.

I have waited for N900 even before/since it was announced. First they said beginning of October (in Nokia Germany) then 12th and now 30th, which I still accept. However, now they are pushing forward to November and I cannot rely/trust anymore. Do you trust or believe someone who already 3 times fails to keep their word?

I really do like and want to have N900 but....

just my 2 p.

here's suggestion for release of future Maemo-based devices:

Please offer the device to enthusiasts as soon as the hardware is final. I guess most of us can live with some bugs, as long as we can
update the firmware to the final version that will be shipped to normal customers later. Plus we'll report bugs and suggest improvements before the public release, especially if we can get
a discount for being beta testers.
Just make sure the version is labelled as "N9x0 pre" and is not
meant for average customers (just like "Palm pre" :-)
