Well, since you don't want to hear about reflash (who does), perhaps you should ask around in the NITDroid thread, maybe they know better. IIRC, they don't both work on older versions or something. Or maybe that was fcam? I've lost track. All I know is I can't NITDroid because of something I have and I have both Titan's kernel and fcam.

Just going to 700mhz max was a huge improvement.

Dear friends

I have a little problem. I had overclocked my N900 yesterday to 250-1150 mhz range with "Enhanced Linux kernel for power users (settings)" using Jakimans guide to overclocking

http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=774

Then i had installed the nitdroid using the auto installer package and slept .. waking up in the morning, I found out that the Nitdroid had successfully been installed and running.. but latter i found out that the overclocking is no longer available on Maemo .. I cant use the commands to overclock neither finds a way to reinstall the custom kernel using the "deinstall kernel" package and following this thread

http://wiki.maemo.org/Kernel_Power#Deinstallation

Although I had tried to manually deinstall the kernel and reinstalling it, but its not working now... Can nybody help me on this..

Regards

This may help... http://wiki.nitdroid.com/index.php?t...-Autoinstaller

It explains that kernel-power is compatible with Multiboot from version 39 and onwards.

Once run, when you reboot with your screen open, you will be give 3 booting options instead of the two. Select option2 to boot into power-kernel with overclock.

Hope it helps

Hello everyone, Im new to overclocking and just OC'd my n900 today using the following settings:

Code:
sudo gainroot
kernel-config load lv
kernel-config limits 250 750
and saved that as the default.
I am wondering if it should be fine to be ran 24/7 and not do any damage to the hardware? ( I want to keep this device as long as possible! )
If not, what is the recommended setting to run 24/7 stable and harmlessly?
Thanks a lot!

Hi All,

while my nitdroid was working excellently,I came across a horror today (thankfully over now but..)

the sequence of my multibooting n900 is following:

-since I started choosing option 2 in the multiboot (power kernel 40) and overclocking to different freq's (ie using 250 850 for 1 hr then changing to 250 1000 for some time then shifting back to default 250 600 mhz without rebooting) my n900 is becoming quite unresposive

-today when i rebooted..to shift to the pk40,there WAS just the nokia logo screen only deadlooped !!!

-then I took out the battery and rebooted again to the same result...

-on the next reboot I choose nitdroid which loaded normally but it gave a message," damaged sd card"

-I thought i ve to reflash (i ve never done b4,+ scared of having to download and set up device all over again)
-luckly on the nhext reboot I got back to maemo choosing option 2 but I got a notification on the maemo homescreen stating ,"warning: custom kernel failed to boot after reboot ??"

1-Can any dev pls help me on what I am doing wrong (in terms of oc etc) &

2-What should I do to make sure I dnt ve to reflash and increase n900 's speed..

hi!

its been quite a while since i ran through this thread for some OCing info.

earlier this morning, i bumped up on playing the "auto-load" feature of overclocking.

some call it permenent overclocking (i may be wrong or really i am) so here is what i notice.

i set ideal settings to clock @1GHz (500 - 1000) then save it as 1000-ideal.

then, by doing kernel-config default 1000-ideal code, my custom settings will be loaded at boot.

my question:
-why does cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/stats/time_in_state command shows a "30" point value on the 250000 freq? it is constant at that point after doing 3 reboots. (i have 125000 and 250000 set to avoid freqs)
-is that a defense mechanism of the kernel (maybe preventing to auto-load a non-stable frequency)
-or does the n900 boot up @stock kernel for "30" (assuming that 30 is in milliseconds) and after that, will auto-load my custom settings?

thanks
