Btw: do you guys use the zoom function?
It is, after all, just digital zoom...
I sometimes do use it. It's quite useful if I want to take a quick photo where I can't get closer to the specific thing I want to capture. Something I want to send to a friend that I find important or funny and want to send quickly. This way I don't have to manually crop the image which can be time consuming.

To summarize:

1- Resolution indicator will stay visible (regardless of the place)
2- zoom will stay. I personally use it and others too
3- Mode button will stay as it is for now until we collectively find and agree on a better solution (I hate it too but I don't yet know what to do. We can move the "submodes" to the settings.).
4- We need to move the resolution indicator out of the tool bar.

How about we 2 columns for the indicators? This will allow the resolution part to be a bit bugger as it can take a whole row?

I have a problem with the zoom at the left hand side "sniff"

@mcbook stop editing the posts :P

What do you think about reserving 2 columns for the indicators? It'd make the whole area a bit more thicker than it is now but it will be also shorter

EDIT: let me try to implement the vertical zoom slider. Maybe it will be good in practice.

Sometimes I am a bit slow mentally so I need to update my posts...
After all, double posts are evil!!!

I will try to think of something if you don't like my current layout idea...
However, I am not a big fan of the idea to make 2 columns because I fear that this will look kinda bloated...

1. If the reason it is staying is because people change it often, then it needs to be out of the setting page and into the tool bar as a button.
2. Though I don't ever use it myself since I can zoom and crop after the fact, I appreciate that we are all different.
3. I love the way this is implemented. I wouldn't change it at all. Except, of course, adding new modes
4. In my opinion, if we are changing it frequently along with all of the other settings, the toolbar is the only place for it.

I agree. Especially since that is an area that is always showing in the viewfinder, it could appear cluttered.
