You might say exactly the same about Sailfish.
What's exciting about it? It is Yet Another Linux-Based Platform™. The same thing that makes Sailfish attractive.

What does SailfishOS have besides the YALBP ( )? Ah, so much.

I would generally split the factors (not just in SailfishOS case, but in general) in three categories:
- the system underneath (not exciting to normal users) and the community around it
- the UI and innovations in this area
- the 'hardware - software' connection
