Hmm... not being able to turn off that bloody annoying "hit" sound every time it refreshes is annoying.

That aside, there is a pretty major flaw. The API is not returning such details as when or how much or where to get tickets.

For now. Fail.

It says when concerts are. Date, time, location

It seem to work and I actually think that list scrolling is better but on the other hand it should show when you tap. By this i mean that maemos default scrolling is IMO faulty because it highlights items when you are scrolling list with finger.

Some graphics seem little off and not able to pan map was bit odd. Extras-testing material on GUI side but dunno about memory and cpu usage on quick usage.

.edit
Also it said that nothing is happening near me but when i specially looked from any music it found concerts 4 miles from me (also i would like metric system). So it would be good to be able to configure what is actually near

..edit
Show on map uses nokia maps icon and it confuses me. Because it opens just basically static google maps. Also startup sound is weird.

Only shows band name and location on here. No time or ticket info.

I think that is the fault of the website used to get the listings. The listings I have were via fm.com and they have the times of the concerts. A contact number for the venue would be nice though.
Going to hot acts is slow to list and can bring up concerts hundreds of miles away so this may be a flaw or by design.
Overall it's a useful application

Weird?
I have the exact same problem. Anyone figured this out yet?

BandFan is a cool app. It's something I've always wanted to do for a web service, but got too bogged down in details to start properly.

Being a first version, by definition there are rough edges. The no tickets thing is unavoidable, as it pulls the gig lists from last.fm which doesn't have that info. The update ping sound is very blunt, and gets mangled half the time for some reason. Another irritant is the maps integration; the Google Maps overlay is okay, but the lack of scrolling isn't. In a perfect world, you could punch up Ovi Maps and get a route between your current pos. and the gig. (Of course most music fans know the cool bars and don't need any pansy map assistance, but it's the thought that counts)

There was a good reason the original Maemo 5 promo vid talked up how it was great for concerts. As a music fan who likes recording gigs, to me the N900 represents the current pinnacle of pocket recording. DVD quality footage (for phonecam lenses, everyone knows 720p is actually short for "wastes more disk space") along with crystal clear audio (for just about any input volume), it puts the majority of bootleg gig videos to shame. Especially iPhone ones.

Kudos to Earthcomber for giving the platform a chance. Apps like this ensure the N900 will remain one of the best gigging phones around.

(Though as far as Ovi Store updates go, once a fortnight is dismal. It would be quicker to just stand perfectly still and wait for continental drift to move the whole of Finland towards your phone. Not cool, Nokia. Not cool.)
