I don't know if you mean Feige-Fiat-Shamir zero-knowledge digital certificate protocol, but the entire launch and Nokia's general strategy is fully FFS- compliant. Have you heard of the rumors of the dual-core symbian?

In all fairness the GSII phones were anounced around Feb & are only now becoming available in the US.
Came out in other countries far earlier though...

In the meantime samsung has released, with little fanfare or fuss, multiple phones, several of which trump the N9's specs in the eyes of the great unwashed,
Still up for debate....
We need the N9 (hurry the fack up Nokia!) before we can make conclusive proclamations one way or the other.
I think the value debate will be unquestionable, best phone overall price aside, not so clear.

and preaching them for the degree of openess of the Maemo/ Harmattan over Android will only get some glazed looks.
I'm with you there....

Yes, I know that you can't assess the performance of two phones, running different OSes, by looking at the spec sheet. However, on paper the SGII blows the N9 out of the water, on processor as well as other stuff (HDMI out, screen size, microsd slot etc), plus of course the iphone 5 will probably have a dual-core CPU. The current marketing from all the heavy hitters and techblogs is that more cores=better phones, no ifs or buts. The pre3 was heavily criticized for having a punny 1.4ghz single core CPU!

I believe that the ability of the N9 to run code without the java runtime and its 1gb of ram more than offsets the one-core CPU. But if you say that to a non-savvy buyer it will sound like you're making excuses, as not a lot even know what "ram" is, let alone the difference between Qt and Java running on a VM. It's the reason car automakers can sell crap cars with hillariously overpowered engines that the chassis can't possibly utilize. From my experience, casual consumers latch on a single spec, and the bigger it is the better.

Well no more N9 for me, I just got laid off!
September 30th the plant shuts down and we don't have to work all of October but we still get paid for it on Sept 30th. Then they're going to give me about 5g's vacation and severence and I got another 20g's from somewhere else and that's all I got to slowly eat away at while I'm getting unemployment until I get another job.
Atleast I'm marrying a nurse when I go to the Philippines on October 17th. 6 months to get her back here then maybe 3 months before she gets a job then I'll/we'll be ok again. I guess it's back to community college for me and maybe some 10 dollar an hour job until I complete a degree. So I guess I'll be grocery shopping at the 99cents store now. This sucks!

Hey I know most of you guys don't have manufacturing jobs because you actually had a chance to get a college degree or something (as opposed to me stuck in a cult until I was 31) but let me tell you guys something. If your company manufactures something, you will be closed down eventually because China is doing it cheaper and bigger!

I asked these guys (execs) 2 years ago in front of the whole company when they opened up a giant manufacturing plant in Oregon (where it's cheaper to do business for them) if they were going to close this place down in LA and do business out of Oregon only and they flat lied in my face in front of everyone. And what do you think is going to happen to that place in Oregon? It's going to go down too eventually because it's smaller and more expensive to operate than the gianormous plants in China.

So let me tell you if your company manufactures something, GTFO because China's gonna eat it.

Guess I'll get one of those $200 meego netbooks and screw around with it if I can score a job by December.

Guess I'll watch with longing admiration at all you N9 owners.

I'll go out with this;

Trollin, trollin, trollin
Finland's Income's slowin
Elop's crap is showin - Ha Ha

Since windows phone is blowin
The bribes must still be flowin
instead of Nokia growin - ca ca

Indeed; this phenomenon explains the continuing prevalence of a certain class of spam e-mail

@aironeous: Aw man that sucks Being a 23y/o Greek at an age segment with around 47% unemployment I can kinda understand how you feel. I was doing a good gig as a translator up from/to engilsh until a year ago. The money wasn't especially good but I had a nice income while I attending uni (that's how I got the N900). Now that's gone, nobody has money for translators anymore.

I probably won't get the N9 immediately. I expect to have money by December, as I will have been conscripted in the greek army for an 8 month stint, so my living expenses will be zero, and I will be probably able to save as small allowance my folks give me to get by as a civie. After that ordeal, I'm going to leave the country to study further and actually find a normal job. Man, f*ck unemployment.

Seems it's not quite dead, just yet!!
I saw a poster today with the N9(or 703/searay?) in copenhagen (falkoner alle)

If you look at Telias top 9 sold units, N9 is number 4. pretty good for an unreleased product from Nokia with an OS that arent their primary and never will be...

It also looks like Nokia Demark is promoting it very well with some info-meetings held with a carrier (3) along with their website and facebook page.

Oooch, that's tough...

But I see that you have the good spirit, and do not pity yourself, which is already a good thing. So, I wish you all the best and good luck to get back on track as soon as possible. ;-)
