Now, as for the price of the handset itself... I'm starting to get a little peeved. The whole N9 affair is probably the second most badly fumbled smartphone launch in 2011 after the pre3... two months or so after the phone was announced and nobody yet knows the price or the launch date? Reeeeally?
In the meantime samsung has released, with little fanfare or fuss, multiple phones, several of which trump the N9's specs in the eyes of the great unwashed,
and preaching them for the degree of openess of the Maemo/ Harmattan over Android will only get some glazed looks.

From my experience, casual consumers latch on a single spec, and the bigger it is the better.

Copenhagen design week seems to promote the N9 (bottom right corner, which directs to this)
Seems it's not quite dead, just yet!!

Yes, I know that you can't assess the performance of two phones, running different OSes, by looking at the spec sheet. However, on paper the SGII blows the N9 out of the water, on processor as well as other stuff (HDMI out, screen size, microsd slot etc), plus of course the iphone 5 will probably have a dual-core CPU. The current marketing from all the heavy hitters and techblogs is that more cores=better phones, no ifs or buts. The pre3 was heavily criticized for having a punny 1.4ghz single core CPU!
I believe that the ability of the N9 to run code without the java runtime and its 1gb of ram more than offsets the one-core CPU. But if you say that to a non-savvy buyer it will sound like you're making excuses, as not a lot even know what "ram" is, let alone the difference between Qt and Java running on a VM. It's the reason car automakers can sell crap cars with hillariously overpowered engines that the chassis can't possibly utilize. From my experience, casual consumers latch on a single spec, and the bigger it is the better.
