So, this is the thread now, bashing WP7, trying to make the 5000th post and.... and I don't really care about what I type anymore... Seems that it doesn't matter.

*goes into stasis waiting for June 21st*

I'll be #5000 at some point.

Regardless, I feel Elop made the right decision to use WP7 for now as Meego is NOT ready for general users when compared to WP7/Android/iOS.

true, but to have maemo as a secondary platform would have been better. now it’s just a future disruption, sad.

Can you clarify what you mean, and how you know? Do you mean:
  1. A Maemo-base + Qt + MeeGo APIs + a custom Nokia UX = Harmattan
  2. A MeeGo-base + a custom Nokia UX
  3. A MeeGo-base + the "reference" Handset UX
  4. An N900 running MeeGo DE/CE

The first of these are what Nokia's bringing to market. It was designed and conceived as a mass-market device; do you really think it's not going to be polished & ready for the mass-market?

There's also been lots of investment in developer tooling, with Qt & the Qt SDK. Admittedly, there's still lots of room for improvement in the cross-platform aspects, but it's a lot better than Scratchbox; and a lot better than the old EPOC & Symbian SDKs.

The ecosystem was being aligned to be the strategic, mass-market device, running on a Linux core. The only reason Nokia's "MeeGo" devices (i.e. Harmattan) will "NOT [be] ready for general users" is the limited number of developers, both commercial and hobbyist, who target it following February 11th.
