Hello Everyone,

to call it dramatically: You are my last hope

I am trying to install tinyfugue on my N900. Installation works fine (i tried with the devels-installation and also manually with the .deb-file). What i get is the following:

TF start normally but when i try to give it a command it !always! gives me:

The key "nkpEnt" is undefined; you may use /def key_nkpEnt = "commands" to define it. See "/help keys"

It doesnt matter what command i give tf, it always gets me this little sentence. Control-keys are somehow working at least to leave tf and search a bit. But this did not help so far. Sowhere in the forum someone mentioned that tf might want an "enter", but i am not that sure about how to change that.

What also is mysterious is: I dont know if the tf-filestructure is properly setup because i dont have a .tfrc-file anywhere (but i am not sure myself at what time of the process this is generated)

Maybe you can assist me with what little bit/byte is in the wrong place.

Thx in advance!
Connaught

Wow. Sounds like you're experiencing some serious weirdness on your end.

I'm using the Diablo version so I doubt I can help you any, but I have yet to run into any trouble with his release.

By the way, that tfrc file can be located in
/usr/share/tf-lib/

Code:
;;;; This file is not required, but contains examples of commands you
;;;; might want to use in your personal configuration file (~/.tfrc).
;;;; Feel free to customize these commands to your own tastes.

;;; Enable windowing mode.
/visual on

;;; Enable paging
/more on

;;; Enable suppression of introductory MUD text.
/quiet on

;;; Disable old-style slash interpretation
;;; I recommend this unless you have old macros containing multiple slashes.
/set oldslash=off

;;; Enter the directory where you keep your tf files.
/cd ~/tf-dir

;;; Define default filenames for /load*, /save*, and /log commands.
/def MACROFILE	= ~/tf-dir/macros.tf
/def HILITEFILE	= ~/tf-dir/hilite.tf
/def GAGFILE	= ~/tf-dir/gag.tf
/def TRIGFILE	= ~/tf-dir/trig.tf
/def BINDFILE	= ~/tf-dir/bind.tf
/def HOOKFILE	= ~/tf-dir/hook.tf
/def WORLDFILE	= ~/tf-dir/world.tf
/def LOGFILE	= tiny.log

;;; Load files.
;;; Only useful if you have these files, of course.
; /loadworld
; /loadhilite
; /loadgag
; /loaddef
; /loadbind
; /loadtrig

Hell, yeah. Thanks Addison, your comment withe the tfrc ignited something within me. With playing around the tfrc and its location(!) i finally got aware that the one has to be in ~. So a copy and some changes to the file did it and finally i got tf to work/respond to me. I think nothing is more frustrating than a text-based program which text you dont understand despite the fact it always says the same

Thanks Addison!

Cheers

Install Tiny Fugue from app manager.

In Xterm type:
tf -help

For a list of places to visit, wstutt provided an excellent post on the previous page of this thread.

Hums. I keep getting that same msg as Connaught.

The key "nkpEnt" is undefined; you may use /def key_nkpEnt = "commands" to define it. See "/help keys"

something that my enter key is not defined if I understand that right. But how an earth to define it?

tried to copy tfrc to ~ but no help there.

hi mvx,
its the combination of time and space.... no better: code and place m)
place: the .tfrc in your /home
code: place the line
/def key_nkpEnt = dokey NEWLINE
in the .tfrc

this was what i could make out with the cr-topic.

hope it works
cheers
connaught

btw... someone already did a mud client with a GUI for our N900??
i get the freaks with coding the files. several stuff is different than with my little "tf at home"

Whoo. Managed to get it work. Had to make an addworld to zombie and autoconnect to it.

Then the /def key_nkpEnt = /dokey NEWLINE did the trick of enter.

Thanks. =)

I'll check it out a few more times but I have a feeling that having such a small, touch screen keyboard that I won't be able to type commands fast enough. Also, having a N800, there's not that many hardware keys I can bind for macro commands.

I think I'm at around 50-60 keystrokes per minute without typos.

That's probably going to eventually land me in trouble. *lol*

Any other possible servers to mention that are slowed way down for us handicap people?
Hey Addison,
how do you get your xterm to be so purty with all the colors?
