what's wrong with you guys????? How can anyone dislike a cat? And then vote for the picture?

Pets as food............. well, it's nature. And how we are raised. I can't imagine myself eating a cat or a dog but I have no issues with rabbits, horses, ducks........... It's just that if I keep an animal as pet then it will never become food. If I raise it as a food then it's not a pet.

It is about necessity...
I see a horse having more value alive than other animals...
Since it is a work animal as much as a form of transport...
I would eat the livestock before the horse.

It is easy to say ...if I raise a pet to love I cannot eat it.
If I raise a animal to eat ...I cannot get involved with emotion.

Growing up on a farm...you see that both are important attitudes that cannot be discriminately separated ...that is cruel and inhumane.
Both to the animal and oneself.
Just caring for everyone is for the best ...
And when it is someone's time...they had a good full life filled with care, compassion and joy.
It is nonetheless hard ...

Never understood "cat people" or "dog people"... Who don't like the other...
I know there is a cat and dog for every person...
Since they both are so unique and individual in their temperaments ...they just haven't found each other yet...is all.

Very easily. I dislike cats. No, I hate the blighters. From the deepest depths of my dark soul.

I did not vote for the cat. I voted for the picture. I do not care what the picture is of and do not let that cloud my judgement. It is an excellent quality picture that fits the theme*). Everything about it is excellent: the sharpness, the focus, the colours, the light and shadows, the composition... That it was a picture of a cat does not play a role.

I'll tell you a story. I had a girlfriend once who was a potter. She made ceramic pots for a living. She said there are three types of buyers:
1) Those who admire the craftsmanship
2) Those who appreciate that it is handmade
3) Those who buy it because there is a picture of a cat/dog/heron on it

*) My own picture fits the theme too but is far from "excellent". Or even "decent". I posted it purely out of frustration. Everyone else tried so hard to fit the theme without actually posting an actual portrait. Robthebold came close but even he did his hardest to hide the subject's face. So please take my entry as a protest against the snowflake PC world.

The subject of this competition did not inspire me so I could not take any picture. Thought about taking but could not proceed from there. /ery good subject, I would have loved to make a nice portrait. But I just could not this time.

Again I have to disagree. There was several portrait posted... (included the pichlo). My pic is a portrait of my beloved pets. So telling me I failed about the theme is kind of offending.

I do have a half-tame rabbit living in my backyard. I never think about eating it because the animal is pretty good at local and short time weather predictions.

Maybe he wants a portrait that using blur effect like people nowadays need3-4 cams on a phone...maybe...nothing’s wrong here, just different points of view
