@lardman -- I saw the first preview in theaters months back and multiple tv-spots since... interesting...

@briand -- They took around 5 hours give or take ten minutes That's a heck of a long time to sit on your rear end under stress Anyway, I'm glad they're over and I'm going to go see Iron Man either tonight or tomorrow night Last night I needed my sleep

They must not be pushing it over on that side of the Pond. The trailers (and that stupid LG spot) are running practically every commercial break here.

YES!

I really set myself up for disappointment with high expectations, but I thoroughly enjoyed the movie! Just as most reviews said, it was well-written, well-acted, and the CGI done to near perfection.

I am still beaming from the experience. And if that makes me "stupid" () then so be it.

Got a kick out of the extra ending, too. I can't wait to see the result of that setup.

And the results are in: it kicked butt-- http://www.cnn.com/2008/SHOWBIZ/Movi....ap/index.html

Seriously... I thought that Robert Downey Jr. would not have captured the Tony Stark that I always figured the comic books that I grew up to be.

Wrong.

I felt like I watched Tony Starks being himself... comfortable in his own skin... and comfortable in the Iron Man suit.

Comedy and seriousness... with killer CGI and a true set of villains - Obadiah Stane was played quite well as well... just really did make for a Marvel comic book that I grew up with come fully alive.

And that ending... sorta surprised to see "him" play "him" (I'm trying to avoid spoilers) but damn that makes me want the next movie to hurry up.

My inner-child is very happy.

Same here, gerbick, except that when I first heard of Downey being considered I thought, "whoa... he should be just the one to understand the character."

And like you, I found myself about 2/3 of the way through the movie so caught up in his performance that I came to thinking of him as Stark. I doubt anyone could have done a better job. Makes me wonder who they'll get when Downey is too old for the role...

Just saw it tonight. It was OK, but not spectacular. I think Batman begins has ruined me for superhero movies. The campy stupidness really gets to me, particularly the attrocious action scenes (like that ******ed escape scene :/).

The writing was good and the acting was good, though, and it's definitely worth seeing.

Did anybody else almost die when he landed on that AC 427?
