General Antilles is right, actually getting a well made battery to zero is pretty much impossible.
But as GA said, there's no need to try either, because there's no benefit in running down a lithium battery.

Krisse, I'm in love again! I followed all of your advice. I backed up everything, copied all the data from the internal memory card to my computer, reformatted the internal memory card, and upgraded the firmware! Now this little bugger runs like a dream. What a difference! All pages are loading...and FAST!. I'm writing this while listening to my show on the N810. The sound is also great! Check it out...go to http://www.WHITokyo.info. Click on the "Listen to WHIT" link on the left of the screen. This will pop-up a flash player. The EEE (Triple E) at the top of the playlist is a good example.
Thanks a million for all of your help. I won't forget it. I'd like to mention your help, your websites (and this website and forum) when I talk about my N810 in my next podcast. is that OK?
PS: But man! I can't believe that Nokia shipped the N810 with that old release of the OS/firmware. It was terrible!

It's always a good idea with new devices to put the latest firmware on them straight out of the box, because you never know what problems the older versions suffered from.
Regarding the browser, remember to stay away from Fit Width To View!
And if Flash stops working, here's the very very very very very very very easy way to get it working again:

If you want to give instructions on how to get to my site, tell people to go to www.neoncherry.com and then click on "Internet Tablet School". That will take them straight to the index of tablet tutorials.
You might also want to mention if people find the tutorials useful to buy a book or a badge (the links are at the side of the site) as I don't get any money from Nokia to do these (though they did pretty much give me the N800 and N810 for nothing).

That's why I always flash all my gadgets as soon as I've bought them (after charging them of course).
When I first got an N800 last year it couldn't do Skype at all. A firmware update later and... whoosh, there was Skype up and running! :-) Then when OS2008 came out for the N800... whoosh, the tablet speeded up from 330mhz to 400mhz, all thanks to a firmware update.

Off the main topic of this fascinating thread, but I find Fit Width to View essential when I'm running Google Reader in what I call vertical mode. Otherwise, the edges of news stories get cut off.

If you're going to use FWTV, use it with caution!
The main problems with FWTV are with people who don't realise the problems it causes. When they can't see a site properly they blame the browser or tablet instead of FWTV, and never think to switch FWTV off because nothing warns them FWTV can be so disruptive.
FWTV in its current form seems to cause more problems than it solves because of this lack of awareness. I've suggested removing it, or burying it deeper in the options menus, or having a "health warning" appear when using it so you know to switch it off if you have problems.
Other people have suggested making it only work on sites where you've specifically opted to use it, so if for example if you use Google Reader and switch on FWTV, it would work on GR but wouldn't stay on when you navigate to a different site.

I'm having these loading a page problems again. I can successfully connect to my wireless. But trying to load a page just stays with the status "connecting" and the little blue bar moving back and forth - forever. Can't figure it out. My Macbook is right next to it on the same wireless connection and it never has these problems. And yes, I've followed all the advice so far. Now it's too damn late to send it back to where I purchased it - only 72 hours for a refund. 500 bucks down the ****in' drain.

First of all, it isn't down the drain if you purchased it new, because all Nokia tablets come with a 1 year guarantee. If the hardware is faulty you get a free repair or replacement up to 12 months after the purchase date.
Secondly, if it was working and then stopped working, something must have changed either with the tablet or with the connection. What did you do on the tablet between those times, and did you alter the connection in any way?
Thirdly, have you tried it on Wi-Fi or a totally different phone connection? It sounds like this particular phone connection is causing you grief, in which case it isn't necessarily a hardware problem at all.
Fourthly, are you using the Macbook on the same connection at the same time? Try disconnecting the Macbook or even switching the Macbook off completely and see how the tablet connects then. It may be that your phone can only supply a connection reliably to one device at a time.

well i'll be darned! I finally dragged my MacBook and my N810 to a McDonalds where I know I can get online. I brought the MacBook so that I could confirm the connection settings. Used the same settings on the N810 and lo & behold, I'm posting this from my N810. So I guess there's something with my home wireless configuration. Funny thing is, my MacBook has no problems AND I could get online with the N810 before!??? This threw me off. But I shouldn't have blamed my N810. But I tend to get emotional and frustrated. Sorry!
But now I'm having so much fun, I'll stay here for a while and try to upload some podcasts I made yesterday about the N810.

That said, frequent discharging to low battery levels is bad for your battery life and shouldn't be part of your 'shakedown' procedure for new mobile devices, as these batteries neither have the 'memory' issues of NiCad nor the complicated charging circuits of multi-stack laptop batteries.
