one or the other (or both) of those did the trick... thanks, brontide! (from a former Capital District, NY resident).

I had v 2.1-1 installed and the sync was not working quite right. I saw you had version 2.6 available, but when I tried to update it through the app manager, it failed. The error message I got was "Conflict with...pysqlite"

I uninstalled MCalendar and tried again, but with the same result. I am hesitant to uninstall pysqlite because I am not sure what depends on it.

So, my immediate question is: Could/should I uninstall pysqlite? I'd love to get this working but not at the expense of other programs I use regularly.

The larger question: how to find out which applications depend on which others...is there a command which lists dependencies?
Possibly, it is erminig. The previous versions of erminig were depending of a bad called package pysqlite. I was helping to lorelei to upload erminig to the repository and now it depends on python-sqlite (the right called package, and mcalendar uses this).
If you have installed manually erminig, possibly you have pysqlite.

The solution is uninstall erminig and pysqlite, and install erminig and mcalendar from the repository.

Thanks Yerga, for your prompt and informative reply. Indeed, that was it. I look forward to testing out MCalendar!

EDIT: So, I have done some testing and do not seem to be able to sync my Google calendar with the Mcalendar. Events entered in MCal show up on Google, but not vice versa. Some sort of setting?

just a guess - your events in gcal are for less than 1 hour (perhaps 59mins?) change them to 1 hour and all syncs perfectly....

How do I install 2.7? Only 2.1 shows up in app manager; even when I use the install file from your web page.

I've been meaning to post on this subject for a couple weeks, now. Khertan has posted in the past that repeating events do not work (yet).

The one (and only, so far) time that I tried it (before I had read that it didn't work!), the error message seemed to indicate that couldn't parse the date/time properly... which leads me to believe that the solution is to have a separate section of the code that parses for repeating events -- perhaps an easy/quick fix. I haven't looked any closer at it than that, and haven't even browsed the source code, for that matter.
