Hello everybody interested. Just back from the superb Maemo Summit, I'm happy to announce that mClock is now available from the extras-devel repository.
Now I need some testers:
  • If you already have mClock on your device: uninstall it through the application manager.
  • Make sure you have the extras-devel repository enabled in your application catalog. If not, use click the link above to configure and enable it.
  • Refresh the application list in application manager
  • mClock should show up in the list of installable applications
  • Install it.
  • Run it (Home>Extras).
Does it work? Feedback much appreciated.

Credits to a minor hackfest in Berlin with much appreciated support from Khertan and Brontide (thanks for the support, guys! - and no, and I was really only at beer #2 when uploading...)

Do I need to uninstall it or will it show up as an upgrade that I can install? Just checking. Thanks!

Just tried from the extra-devel repo, didn't work off the bat. After troubleshooting I found that I had to manually drag in python2.5-pygame, which took care of one error, but now the error I get when debugging from console says:

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/lib/mClock/mClock.py", line 28, in <module>
from gnome import gconf
ImportError: cannot import name gconf

I've got python2.5-gnome installed and up to date, so, any ideas what might be causing this?

Thanks,
-Rob

Finally!
Now it worked on my N810 but I couldn't exit it.
The only way is to do
ps -ef | grep Clock
and
kill -9 [pid]

Brute force is required as a smooth kill does not work.

You might try the ESC key, that should work too. In fact, that is what most users do :-)
(See the Details tab when installing)

mclock made it to the extras repository thanks to py2deb!
I've updated and completed the wiki page - it should help anybody who wants to build something for extras using py2deb onboard (e.g. anyone not developping on Linux :-)

Ok, I correct :-) ...for anyone who:
- doesn't have a linux system available for "proper" packaging
- doesn't have a personal debmaster
- would rather spend time developing instead of packaging
- but still likes to see his app show up in the extras repo
