I would love to have on my N800 what I have on my N95. Quickoffice (word + powerpoint) and the video output (connected to the 3.5" connector). I get many emails with powerpoint and word docs as attachments, and I cannot read these emails on the N800. I cannot benefit from the larger screen :-(

I can do small presentations using the N95 + the connector to the video projector at work. The quality is not as good as using a PC but it is good in an emergency. It could be better with N800.

Now a days, email without word + spreadsheet + powerpoint viewer is useless on a business environment. Many of us have this requirement and Nokia should think on this issue before some of us move away to different machines. I know, the N900 it is a "N" and not a "E", but the N95 is also a "N".

In this thread lets try to stick to the native file format! I am not ruleing out guest operating systems I am just discuraging them. Because this thread is about OS 2008 not debian or KDE or Ubuntu.

If people just want some basic formatting, perhaps a wysiwyg html editor might be the answer.

Amaya might not be too hard to get running.

Great thread and the numbers talk.

My needs for a word processor seem basic: Spell check; formatting basics -center, left, right, hanging tab, double tab; outline (more than merely bullets) ; ability to open more than one document at a time; some sort of syncing with desktop/network.

As for the rest of the "full feature office suite" can use it. Spreadsheet. PP? Sure. I Particularly lust for PIM functions. I have recently dusted off my old Clie su33! Even considering getting a keyboard for it! All just regain some of these features in my pocket/backpack.

Yikes. Thanks debernardis for attempting to talk him down. Too bad he jumped anyways.

Sorry for bumping this thread; I get a little steamed when I stumble across wild handwaving posts like that...

Also, if anyone else has problems with the "sofware messing up your display" there's a very very simple answer: UNINSTALL THE EASY DEBIAN PACKAGE AND REBOOT.

"File format"? I don't think you've got a real good handle on what you're talking about here.
