Not sure what Samsung is aiming at here. 450$ for what is essentially a N810 WiMax clone with a minimal spec boost (except the camera) in 2009 Q3, cursed with WinMobile... I don't get it. Must be me not seeing something

I wouldn't call it a minimal specs boost. Looks interesting, though. I would still rather have an open OS, but the hardware looking interesting to me.

HDTVs with ARM inside?

I recall them being pretty glued to Ballmer Corp's butt, in fact they've even signed the Linux patent deal with them.

Maybe it's just the confucian corporate culture though.

OTOH some of their ARM-based WIMAX gear clearly runs Linux

I for one am very interested in getting a Mondi. I was hoping they would improve than anesthetics though.

We'll see what it bundles with (if anything) for that price.

ARM11 CPU (400MHz TI OMAP2420)
128 MB RAM
Wimax, WiFi and BT
GPS
2 GB internal flash + miniSDHC
4 row slider qwerty with dpad on left

Samsung Mondi
4.3" 800x480
ARM11 CPU (800MHz Samsung s3c6410)
128 MB RAM
Wimax, WiFi and BT
GPS
4 GB internal flash + microSDHC

Well, if the specs are the same, nothing says you couldn't put Maemo on it.

Mer? Mer is, as far as I know, just like Maemo. If you're not already familiar with Maemo, why are you on this forum? :-)
To learn of his options perhaps?
