  3. "Edit" any of the connections you already have configured
  4. Click "Next" until you get to the "Advanced" button
  5. Click the "Advanced" button
  6. Select the "Other" tab
  7. Change the WLAN tranmission power to 10mW instead of 100mW

You will now be using 10 milli-watts of power rather than 100 or in another way 1/10th the power drainage during wifi. I've read that wifi is one of the biggest power drains on any portable device.
That will do next to nada. And there have been plenty of threads on the subject.

I get same battery life, 3 hours surfing, 5 hours music. Since I don't surf for 3 hours solid, I replace my battery about every 8 hours. I have 3 batteries, 1 in N800, 1 in a charger at home and 1 in a charger at work. I never run my N800 from power adaptor.

It's on the 'top' list 4 times. But maybe I'm reading it wrong...

This probably won't work, but I'll try and paste, just som someone who knows what they are looking for can see^^

You can use [code] tags like this:
Code:
PID USER STATUS VSZ PPID %CPU %MEM COMMAND 1486 user SW 33284 989 3.5 26.2 maemo-l 1489 user RW 1960 1487 2.1 1.5 top
 1066 user SW< 33972 989 1.5 26.7 maemo-l 793 root SW< 11400 347 1.1 8.9 Xomap
 1279 user SW 161M 1277 0.7130.0 browser 1019 user SW< 30772 989 0.5 24.2 maemo-l 82 root SW< 0 6 0.5 0.0 OMAP Mc 355 root SW 804 347 0.1 0.6 bme_RX- 1430 user SW 103M 989 0.0 83.2 maemo-l 1277 user SW 40696 1 0.0 32.0 browser 1406 user SW 34896 1 0.0 27.4 gnome-v~
Btw I still think Xomap drains more after the last optimizations.

(@Reggie: I think code sections should be better without wrap?)

Are you booting off SD? I usually get a long battery life if I boot off flash versus SD. When using SD I can't even expect an hour when running Pidgin.

Nope, I even took out the SD card as suggested in a suggested in a previous post, but it had no effect on batttery life.

to tell the truth, I don't even know how to boot off the SD and just use it for file storage and backup purposes.

LOL told you'll I'm a newbie, didn't I

ah, its not maemo-1, its maemo-launcher, with everything after the L cut off.

may i suggest the install of load-applet? it should give a cpu and ram use indicator, and has the ability to show a list of processes.

another option is installing htop, but i fear that may take a bit of apt work.

The screen is in effect, a light bulb, you may try to set the audio/video parameters similar to below and see whether yours is off too much, http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=20117, everything you want to know about battery part I, (Part II is on my table, way too lazy to post it, sorry, maybe a couple of month later).

From the same experiment, 1sq brightness with wifi OFF gives 5.8 hr of battery life, drops to 3.7 with wifi on. Whereas under similar conditions, 1 sq brightness vs 2 sq vs 3 sq gives 3.4, 3.1, 3.0 hr, i.e., brightness drops battery life as expected (it is like a light bulb), but not as much when compare to wifi. Mind you, these are all chinook work.

The diablo 'low battery' warning comes on way earlier when compares to chinook, just my experience. Under chinook, when the red battery icon comes on, tablet shuts off in a couple of minutes. whereas under diablo, it continues goes at least 15 plus minutes, sometimes.

Yes, under chinook, running only as a mp3 player last more than 12 hr. That I have checked 2X.

Good morning everyone!!

Oops... sorry bout that Didn't know that it had cut anything off

I've installed Load-applet. It's won't take more battery to run right? Hehehe I had no idea that so many processes ran on such a small thing at any one time!

Any clues as to what I'm looking for though?

Thanks for your continuing help^^ It really means a lot to finally get some ideas on this problem!!!
