the way the theme is setup header template is below the top bar header template is where the main menu is, and navbar tempalte is where the welcome/private messages are.

I do enjoy the new 2 tone look since it seperates posts and quotes quite nicely. I would suggest rather than grey and black something more like dark grey background with light grey foreground to make the transition a little more subtle
