considering that they are both nokia products

Well, an ellipsis wouldn't be a capital offense anywhere.

Hi Edward,

How are you today? I'm sorry to know of the issue you're facing with your Nokia N810 and the MD-7W Bluetooth speakers.

The Nokia N810 is indeed compatible with the speakers as it shows on our website at the web link below:

http://www.nokia.com.au/find-product.../compatibility

As such, it is quite peculiar that your device is not able to connect to the speaker. In this instance, I would appreciate if you could provide the following information in order for me to have a clearer picture of the issue:

1) Was there any active Bluetooth connection between your Nokia N810 and other devices?
2) Do you face any difficulty connecting the N810 with other Bluetooth devices - phone, headsets, etc.?

Any other information that you feel is necessary, please do share it with us, Edward. I apologize for not being able to provide you with much information at this point.

Thank you for emailing Nokia Careline. Hope to hear from you soon!

Do you know you can now update your phone software at your own convenience?
Visit www.nokia.com.au/support to check if your phone model is supported and download the "Nokia Software Updater".

Kind regards,

Naz

What are you using to post from? Do you see a "quote and reply" button at the bottom of other members posts? If so, please use it. It helps readers keep track of who said what, dig?

I would like to help you further but before I do, you're going to have to Send Me Cash.

I'm sure he was looking at this page:
http://europe.nokia.com/find-product.../compatibility

Where the Nokia N810 Internet Tablet and Nokia N810 WiMAX Edition are both listed prominently.. thereby making any casual person assume they should just work by default. There's also some some small print way at the bottom to disclaim the obvious assumption any casual user might make:

Compatible with phones and devices supporting stereo music streaming over Bluetooth wireless technology. The speakers support Bluetooth specification v 2.0 + EDR (with A2DP and AVRCP)

Product compatibility is subject to change and is dependent on the software version of your device. Check the software update availability for your device. For more information, contact the Nokia dealer nearest to you.
Given all that, I'd say that they've effectively disclaimed away their deceptive attempt to make it look compatible by default--which it's not. Any need to hack or tinker on your own part to make it work is not the same as being compatible.
