Hey floatie-- join the maemo group and I'll add you through there.

And lcuk-- if you look at any US jobs, especially with Nokia, let me know. I have contacts for you.

I'm sorry if this sounds harsh...but you resigned and am now looking for donations? Uh...

Not the brightest thing to do in this economy without having the foresight of having another gig lined up. And honestly, asking for donations for your own extremely poor decision and planning is rather tasteless.

I would have checked for an alternative job first, before resigning from the first one.. that's true.

He has been putting faith in a bright future, and this has yet to come.

But you can't blame him for asking for help.
Many people, including me, are willing to help a friend.

So yes, he was a bit reckless in doing what he did, but your post sure is harsh.
Not against you.. it seems you simply pointed that fact out, but asking for help is not tasteless at all.

shame that i'm on a payless holiday for 50% of my time rest of the year, would have otherwise donated more just for a principle.

I think quitting a job on principle like I think was the case here is something people should let themselves do. I hate the way our short lives are mostly about working and only then what comes next. Yeah, it wasn't economical decision but lcuk made it so he'd be able to keep doing what he was devoted to. I respect that.

It's true that resigning without having a new job lined up already may not be a strategically good choice, and we all know this, but the truth is, if push comes to shove, I would do exactly the same.
