I upgraded my loan n900 from 41-10 to 42-11 with nokia software updater on windows vista. At first I did backup, then flashed with NSU and after that I restored backup. Everything worked fine

I updated from the NSU as well, with no problems.

The problem is, it seems that only the version number in product info is updated. I haven't found a single other thing that is different (though I may be wrong). See post 17 in this thread for the reason that the NSU doesn't update the loaner N900s.

I updated using a different method (NSU refuses to believe my N900 is connected in flash mode) and got 42-2 for my troubles.

So you perhaps could make your own really full backup of your system - including everything.
Oh, I wish back the Sharp Zaurus times where a full NAND backup was available in the BIOS
In the N8x0s we could take and restore an image of everything using tools like the Acronis True Image. You could give it a try if you want - i dont have the device yet..

Does acronis include all partitions including boot records etc. - I meant a true NAND backup - so you can switch your whole system forward and backward if you want to test something.

Didn't you want to do some research? As you've already been told in other threads: FM radio is there, MMS is in the works. And IRDT (I think you mean IRDA) is a hardware thing.

You've seen which distribution maemo is built upon?

So now it has to be ready twice

You got it just because it was the furthest down the list instead of the most recent.

Well, just "everything" was an overstatement. It copies everything in the partition. Check the old threads for more info, but beware those applied for the N800 and N810.
