Ouch - so these "unlimited" data deals - is there a fair use policy? What kind of amount in Mb? (here in UK I have 1Gb fup (cap is apparently 2Gb) data for £10 albeit with minimal minutes/textx (500))

Hey,
Thanks, for replying to an old post. Clearly you know everything about the N900 radio frequencies. I am also glad to see that you are very literate and can read the TWO solutions I posted in brainstorm. One was a hardware solution and one was software solution. I bet you also noticed the projects over in the N800/N810 sections on radio additions. Also, you clearly are smarter than the moderators of brainstorm who approved it for voting. Anyway, thanks for your G R E A T post.

Thanks,
Kham

This is an old thread but I believe it is hardware based so you can not change the data frequencies. I used to have AT&T with a $39.99 voice plan with 450 minutes and the $29.99 smartphone unlimited data plan with my Nokia E71 for a monthly total of about $84.00 after all taxes, etc. I would get 3.5G speeds on My Nokia E71 and 2.5G (edge) on my n900. I switched to Simple Mobile's $60.00 unlimited plan which includes everything for a flat $60.00 per month. Now with Simple Mobile I get 3g speed on my N900 and I gave my E71 a rest. By the way, Simple Mobile (an MVNO) uses T-Mobile frequencies and coverage. I am saving about $24.00 a month now and I am not tied to any contracts. Just my two cents !
