Allow me to clarify. To defend against a reasoned argument against the removal of buttons by saying "manufacturers coming up with virtually full covering displays" and that "many will like this development" sounds like fad is your counter-argument. The analogy is that many also liked the Razr and many manufacturers sought to come up with similar models.

Still, I don't think it's a very good analogy. Nobody has come out with a full front display yet, so saying that it would be a fad or not - or that it's just copying some existing idea - is rather hard at this stage.
But I could write a bit more about the HW button issue in general in some better time.
