Here is a bug report, Andrew:

With the latest sylpheed build, if you open up a composition window and then minimize it (by hitting the minimize button next to the X or by hitting the home button), there doesn't appear to be an easy way to get it back. I lost a fairly long email this way (typed out on the on screen keyboard, no less)...eek! Has anyone tested Sylpheed with a bluetooth keyboard? Any gotchas?

Three cheers for Andrew Flegg ! ! ! Thanks to him we finally have a decent email app.

About fonts: Do: Configuration > Common Preferences > Display > General. They seem to be settable there.

Problem: I've not been able to get the browser to launch properly on a URL in an email. The browser is settable under Configuration > Common Preferences > Details > External commands. Setting the Web browser entry to opera didn't work. I had some success getting the browser to launch using /usr/bin/browser, but it just opened my default home page, not the URL I tapped on.

It's great to be able to finally access the folders I have on the imap server I use. Thanks again Andrew.

Yes, three cheers for Andrew Flegg indeed! Critical (constructive, hopefully) comments aside, this is already the best email app available for the 770 and the only one that I have felt is remotely up to the brutal volume of correspondence I go through daily.

Is there anything we can do to support your porting efforts, Andrew?

Time machine? Enough money to retire and work on it full time? A 25 hour day? A cure for sleep?

Seriously, though, thanks for the comments. I'll carry on trying to get it stable and usable before tackling the more "twiddly" features. For message viewing, the fonts seem to be configurable already, but it'd be nice if the summary was smaller too.

Similarly, opening the browser should work using the stuff earlier in the thread, but as has been reported, (allegedly) doesn't.

Cheers,

Andrew

PS. There is a "donate" button on the website on the TV and VidConvert pages. Small donations are always appreciated, but not expected; but it'd be foolish not to point it out with all the goodwill :-)

PPS. Supportive comments are just as motivating as cash :-)

Can't help you with the time machine, but I made a small donation to encourage further development.

Thanks again,

One more useful tip for Sylpheed users:
You can switch from Sylpheed non-hildonized windows like message editor or single message view (they don't have icons on taskbar) to other window, and be able to switch back.

To do so, you must modify your current theme to add task switching functionality as described in the maemo.org Howto named "using virtual keyboard with X forwarding"

Open /usr/share/themes/_your_current_theme_/matchbox/theme.xml
I'm using LCARS so for me it's /usr/share/themes/LCARS/matchbox/theme.xml
Find first entry of word "custom". It should be button definition
Add string
<button x="320" y="0" w="60" h="60" action="next" options="inputonly,pressonly"/>
before it.
Run
# matchbox-remote -t _your_current_theme_
It will reload theme.
Now you should be able to switch between windows pressing area between status icons and window title just like alt-tab do in MsWindows.
Warning: you can't switch to minimised windows.
Have fun

Another sypheed tip. Menu -> Show or hide ->toolbar -> icon will reveal that most useful of all email icons, TRASH.

Trash good. Me like trash. But stupid me still unable to select ALL mails in Inbox, in sight of sending them ALL to Trash in ONE go. Me too lazy to do it one by one :-)
