Even though the hack allows the N900 to connect successfully to the bt keyboard you can't actually use it. See: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=34872
And eww I also forsee alot of returns or warranty use for this USB issue.

Wow, too bad u leave out of a lot bad stuff to make it look better..
Almost no mention of:
- Lack of portrait modes
- An outdated UI when compared to HTC Sense, WebOS or on the X10. Lame default old 90s icons etc
- No mini-HDMI output (so i take 5mp pictures, but can't show those same high def pics in hd on my tv).
- No D-Pad or Trackball
- Lack of profile options
- No custom ringtones per contact
- No Ovi/PC suite for Linux (what Nokia loves open source put money where the mouth is imho)
- Ovi Maps 1.0 sucks
- 3,7" (like DROID) instead of 3,5" would have been ever better (still same size device)
- no internal compass (great for streetnav/augumented reality)
- no e-mail search function (???)
- Ovi Store not live at release
imho they should fire most of the UI team and hire some ppl from Apple, Palm, RIM or Android to catch-up with a 21st century UI.
Besides all this it's still a good device, but it could and should have been more polished.

I have the same problem with my BH-900.
The connection will be disconnected after some seconds or some minutes of use.
Afterwards a reboot is necessary.

I now feel your pain. My micro USB port has disconnected and is now loose inside the N900 and I can't use for charging or anything else anymore. Unlike you though, I had no violent pulls. I just started noticing that plugging it into a computer resulted in it sometimes not recognizing that it was plugged in. I would have to plug it in a few times before it would start charging. I was always perfectly careful when inserting or removing the micro USB cable... so this makes me think there might be a design problem in the N900.
I'm afraid to see if there's going to be a huge wave of returns/repairs in two months due to this issue. :/

Hmm would it be safe to say that wiggling out the usb adapter slowly as you remove it is the safest way to remove it as of now? To minimize drag on the connector?

One person suggested filing tabs off the male connectors. Might work well as a workaround-- one that IMO should never have been needed.

My partner's micro USB port detached from the PCB as well. There were no obvious drops or stresses on the cable while charging, so I guess it is just a weak surface mount job. Before this she was always complaining that she had to plug it in several times before it would charge.
I'm in the process of attempting to resolder it to the PCB, but so far it hasn't been successful. The working space is extremely tight, and I had to file my soldering iron tip down to a flat shape to get access to the pins. My next step will be to remove the connector completely, apply some new solder to the PCB, and try to solder it back on.
This teardown video of the N900 from YouTube was pretty helpful and the device is amazingly easy to take apart:

Since I have an N810, we're still able to charge it thanks to similar battery pins:

But of course it's not possible to flash new firmware.
