I've never used the xterminal before, so what exactly is the procedure for doing this?

Should I charge for so many hours without using, then allow to drain with use before charging again?

Sorry I know this has been done but there are differing opinions it seems.
The battery comes half charged from the factory, so you can use it straight away.

I used mine straight away without charging at all, until the factory charge was finished and it died. Then I plugged in the charger and charged it fully, switched on while continuing to use it from time to time.

That's what I continue to do, most of the time: Use it until it dies, then charge it fully. Occasionally I charge it when it's not completely dead, just for variety :-)

I'm very pleased with the battery life I've had, from the beginning, so at least there doesn't seem to be anything harmful with that approach.

Start the X-Terminal application, whose icon looks a bit like a dollar sign, then type in the command followed by pressing the Enter key. It's really that simple.

If you're typing something told to you by someone else, and you don't understand shell commands, be careful to type exactly the same command, including punctuation characters like '.' (dot), '/', '\', ';', '$' and '|' (vertical bar; called "pipe" in unix), quote marks like double quote, single quote and backquote, and spaces in the same places. By the way, single quote is on the keyboard and is not the same as the forward quote on the 'Sym' keyboard pop.

Close the X-Terminal application when you're done. Have a nice day

That command is list hal. Are you using a 1 instead of an 'l'?

Classic example of arbitrary Nokia decision making. Couldn't just fallback to the no brainer of tagging with lat/lon if network isn't accessible, could you Nokia?

And the 'pipe' char (|) is available via blue-arrow followed by Sym (an on-screen kbd with special characters pops up).

yeah i got it working. Was typing I instead of L! it only gives you a reading though? Is there any way to change the battery indicator on the desktop from the green barrel...to an actual percentage? That way it would be a better visual imo on the remaining life of the battery?

whats teh Sym by the way? I got the pipe character using the virtual keyboard as I could not find it on the physical one?
