I think i have stuck pixels. As i turned on my N900 for the first time, i saw a white dot in the upper right corner where the screen was black. Oooooooh no!! I was on a few pages and now i think they are stuck. It is getting better somehow. I used some videos to re-animate the pixels and in some colours it is gone now. I dont know what happens when i send it back to Nokia. I dont wantto wait two weeks to get my phone back as it was because they dont do anything ....
I wait for the update to see if it gets fixed ...

Seems to be 50/50 fail rate, that is not good at all, will just stick with mine since I could get one worse.

Also found a dust particle (about the size of 2-3 pixels) and a small piece of hair (or fibre) under the screen. Use a flashlight, and light on the screen at several angels.

Man I hate dead or stuck pixels, but also dust under the screen. Nokia please put it together, and provide good service to us with bad screens.

My preproduction N900 has one dead pixel (always green) at the bottom edge of the screen. On my retail N900 I have not seen any dead pixels yet.

After another inspection in the black screen test in a completely dark room I have found atleast 12 small white dots on the screen. They are extremely hard to see. Are these dead pixles? They dont show up in the other colours and are not noticable at all with general use.

Probably not dead, but maybe stuck pixels, but if they are hard to see, on maximum brightness and in a dark room, then it is not the worst IMO. Really bad if you see them all time on darker areas of screen.

From my experience with various of types of LCDs, in 80% of dead, and at least 50% of stuck pixels (actually dead sub-pixels) is out-of-the-box behavior. 90% of other cases will appear within the first couple of weeks - after that, you are mostly in the clear. That's why it's important to check all the LCD featuring devices before you purchase them - if they are not at all defective at the shop, chances are they will not get defective later on. However, keep in mind that liquid crystals can and will spill out on high impact crashes, so even if you don't get dead pixels at first, you can wreck your screen, or at least get couple of them if you drop it from a considerable height on a hard surface (luckily, as materials and production gets better, liquid crystals are better meshed and protected against such incidences so today's LCDs can withstand considerable amounts of force before giving in).

On the other hand, don't confuse partially visible (at some angle, or `light bleeding`) pixels as dead - those are either dust specs bellow the surface (between the screen and touch-sensitive cover), or impurities/imperfections on the screen glass. Those are always a manufacturer defect, and cannot occur later on (at least if the screen is properly sealed from outside forces).

On another note, I mentioned it earlier - could someone check if http://www.topflashers.com/etc/screenfix/ works fine and in full-screen on N900? And when I say fine I mean the same as on a desktop, not that it actually cures stuck pixels (well, after half an hour of running it might cure those that aint dead, worked fine for me few years ago when I had a stuck-pixel problem on one of my screens). 'cause if it's not, I think that will be my `Hello World` app/port for Maemo

Its really hard to tell if there is dust particles on the screen or if its light leakage. Only 2 of the pixels stand out above the others. I have to move the screen around to see the others and even the main 2 cant be seen from certain angles.
