I doubt anyone will try to find you if you set one up...I'm the one living in the Orwellian society, I should be worried not you.

china not the only problem. I'm sitting in Iran and they're killing people out on the street...
to get the news out I need 2 things; first a simple walk through (I'm not that techy) on how to workaround proxies on wifi internet connections on my N900 and second, the same for GPRS connections.
Please help

What method did you use to post here? Where exactly are you trying to get to on the web?

There is a Tor port now:

http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...&highlight=tor

For people in China, you will have to add some bridges. Get the addresses in a usual way, and add them to the /etc/tor/torrc:

Code:
UseBridges 1
bridge <ip-address:port>
bridge <ip-address:port>

You need to install rootsh to get root access, then you open X Terminal and issue the following command:

Code:
sudo leafpad /etc/tor/torrc
Append the lines I gave before to the end of the file, without changing anything in the rest of the content. Of course, "<ip-addressort>" has to be changed into the address of a bridge (and without "< >" ), eg.:

Code:
UseBridges 1
bridge 127.0.0.1:1000
(You can get addresses by sending an email from a gmail account (sic!) to bridges@torproject.org, with just "get bridges" in the body)

And you will need to restart tor to get it working (you can simply reboot the phone)

It should be without the hash Hash is for commenting out things which are not intended for the program to use (your comments, some disabled options etc.)
