and to the above poster...(Enyibinakata)..please..stop your useless banter. if we wanted an apple, rim, or htc..for the money we paid for this phone..we would have one.
Its smooth enough as it is. There are higher priorities than eye candy at the moment especially in the phone dept. If I could I would actually turn the animation off as its just a gimmick. If I wanted animations, I would go to disney world or something. The emphasis on animation over features like multitasking (eg iphone) is disturbing. We live in a world where a book would rather be judged by the cover. Common sense not common.

Balls. Nokia need to get their act together. period. Its not up to the end user to code a product that is effectively in beta. Frustrations should be aired, otherwise how is the device going to improve! Think about it.

Itīs so sweet and nice when we have people like you here. Enjoy and have fun with other people while trying to tell them what is important FOR THEM and what is not.

As some people have said it would be nice to have, but itīs not must have option and that is why these people still enjoy device despite of this small thing.

Book? WTF? N900 is mainly for me 1/3 toy 1/3 fun 1/3 work. Off course I like that it looks good and feels good. Not everyone sees N900 as hammer. Sorry.

Of course frustrations shold be aired but in this case, its irrational to say its slow when consensus suggests otherwise. If it was not up to my expectation, I will send it back straight away as I did with the n95 and not whine like a toddler. To me Nokia really got its act together with n900; which other device is like it ?

It is posts like this that makes people say this is the most unfriendly community website, And how is go sell your device an easy solution? In case you haven't realised gadgets depreciate in value. They don't appreciate. So after someone has spent over $600 on a device you want them to sell it and make a huge loss and then have to cough up a similar amount for another device?

I think it is you who needs to grow up if you think that people that spent Ģ500 or $600 on a device should have no right to criticise it when it has problems with very basic things. With friends like you Nokia needs no enemies.

I must say I've had problems like this too. Using it at home as an Internet Tablet, is fine, but using it on the move as your out and about, has proven to be more of a struggle. Having a few apps open in the background (media player, e-mail, sms and conky) opening a new internet windows takes 5-10 seconds with full cpu use before it'll take inputs.
Switching from landscape to portrait in the phone app also takes around 5 seconds. Doing the same in the webbrowser takes even longer, and will sometimes lock the window.

App switching will take a few seconds to show up, and feels sluggish. Closing an app while in multitasking view, also takes several seconds to respond, leaving one wondering if the phone has registered my input, and causing me to repeat it.

All small things, but it can incredibly frustrating when you just want to perform certain task quickly and easily!

I will go over it again,

the EMAIL CLIENT, I am not talking about Gmail. in areas of 2g only reception (a lot of these around my location) web mail is not practical and is slow to load when i need to check and use mails.

there is no search feature in the email client. And im not talking about "sorting" lol.

and the ability to copy and paste out of the email client is rather required as well.

it being slow is not ideal as well.

these are not wishlist features.these are the most basic requirements ever!

I was only refering to users who always threaten to sell - like toddlers throwing their toys off the pram. Before u buy, try read the specs , the n900 uses 768mb of swap and so subject to thrashing given only 256mb of real memory - desktop PCs also slow when a lot is in swap memory - thats the price of mtasking and excessive use of eye candy gimmicks.

FYI Nokia is no friend of mine, I dont own a single stock and only got into Nokia phones last year (5800XM). Sony ericsson is my preference actually.

Who said that consensus suggests otherwise?

I think that consensus suggests exactly that - that there are slowness issues with the UI.
