PR 1.2 is not a biggie... PR 1.3 on the other hand, will have a button on the desktop that once you press it, every iPhone/N1 in the world gets a flashing "all your base are belong to us" message on their home-screens...

Now THATS a cool feature

why you just don't flash the new fw in?
I have thought of it but

a) no idea what the risks are and how painful it will be

b) backing up individual data..contacts, messaging etc, is that even possible?

I know contacts export to the user's drive but it's kind of messy. Whereas my old SE phones had a single All_Contacts.vcf when backing up the entire catalogue, the N900 seems limited to creating a file for each entry..=/

PS: April 1st? What a foolish day..

So basically you are assuming that because the N900 will be able to shapeshift into an iPhone it will have mutlitouch?

Noteable updates coming:
Video calls in skype
USSD codes as standard
MMS
Bugfixes (considerable, although there are so many bugs anyway...)
This is exactly how all these rumours are born that end up in threads like this. Hundreds of people get into speculation mode about something they heard/saw somewhere.

In this case a user's manual mentions "internet video calls" that could mean pretty much anything. A couple of hundred posts later a person (with obviously good intentions) has turned this into "skype video calls". And when the update finally arrives people will be complaining that they didn't get the skype video calls that they were promised.

The same applies to MMS, no-one credible has ever said that official MMS support would be added, but the rumor still persists. And people will get mad after every update because they heard someone somewhere say that it would be there and it's not.

Another thing to consider is the language barrier here. Sarcasm and joking are sometimes very difficult to spot if one's English is flaky at best. I'm not surprised if people turn up here after April 1st wondering where their update is, just because they didn't get the joke.

Just urging people to excercise some caution when posting..
